VNC server not reponding to external requests
...sysconfig/vncservers file does not have the -nolisten tcp nor the
-localhost
options so it should be configured to accept outside connections.
Is there some default setting in the vncserver that I need to change to
allow outside
connections?
Thanks,
Neil

[6.2] Postfix not reading main.cf

myorigin = hello.world.com
postfix reload
postconf -d | grep myorigin
I get this output:
append_at_myorigin = yes
myorigin = $myhostname
Any ideas why it is not picking up the configuration?
Thanks,

Is Ubuntu guest optimized or do I need to install para-virtual drivers manually?
...d some Windows guests are automatically optimized with
para-virtualized drivers when I install it.
Is the same true if I install Ubunto as a guest or is there
something I need to do to get the para-virtual drivers installed
on it?

followup to request for centos C/W
just to follow on my earlier post, i have pointers to a couple
commercial C/W manuals for RHEL administration, but both of them use
an entire chapter discussing virtualization using Xen. i'm under the
impression that RH is firmly in the KVM camp (at least for now), and
that learning Xen on red hat/centos wouldn't be as useful as learning
KVM.

Virsh shutdown all command?
Hello:
Is there a command in virsh to shutdown all domains?
I can do one at a time, but that is untenable for a large
number of domains.
Thanks,

Xen Database vms
Are "centralized" database (SQL) servers best left out of virtualization
and committed to their own hardware like the "old days" or are there
some guidelines one should consider in setting them up? I'm not talking
mega-large recordsets, but large enough to handle multiple years of CRMs
and intensive querying, Accounting Systems and so forth.

[libvirt] Set MAC address for host virtual interface?

The Cacti server is running in a separate machine, not on the host.
I guess I will have to find something that makes the domifstat data
available via an snmp interface.
Do you know of such a tool?
Thanks,

Adobe doesn't seem to have acroread for x86_64 linux, or at least I don't

Anybody know otherwise?
Evince and other tools work pretty well, but I have always liked having

How to debug Ubuntu 8.04 LTS guest crash during install?
...start the install but crashes during the installer startup.
This is repeatable so there has to be a way to debug it.
I tried turning on the debug option for virt-install but that

Any ideas how to debug this?

How to limit upload bandwidth for a KVM guest?
Hello:
I am using a CentOS server as a KVM host using bridged networking
for the guest servers.
I would like to limit the bandwidth available to a guest. I tried using
the tc command, but it is only limiting the download speed to the
guest.
Is there a way to limit the upload speed from the guests?
Thanks,

software installation - good practice
Howdy,
I tend to try out many open source apps/packages - games, editors to
media tools. I have a bad habit of downloading and extracting source
in the /var/tmp directory and then doing configure-make-install
process. I am not sure of best practice (good practices) to be
followed when installing any software. For example how and where to
keep the src. Any comments and/or resources would be really
