Override unjoined computername with SAMDOM to allow connection to share
...(auth_check_ntlm_password) check_ntlm_password: Authentication for user [USERNAME] -> [USERNAME] FAILED with error NT_STATUS_NO_SUCH_USER, authoritative=1 Is there a way I can map the USERNAME at computername to USERNAME at SAMDOM, such as with a username map file or other mechanism? Other unjoined devices can map the same share without issues, but they allow me to authenticate as SAMDOM\username or username at samdom.tld. Thanks, Peter

Unjoin Domain
Hello, I would like to rename my w3k AD domain (I am fine with this process) - one thing that worries me is how the samba 3.0.3pre2 Suse 9.0 server will handle it. Should I delete the computer account from AD? Is there an unjoin/rejoin domain procedure for samba? For the domain name change to work, the AD needs to be in native mode, can anyone see any problems with samba switching from mixed to native mode? Apparently winXP xlients will be able to rejoin the domain after a couple of reboots. Thanks, sorry if there are a...

Samba 3.2.4 remotely joining/unjoining a machine to a domain
Hello guys! Reading the release notes for 3.2.0 i found this: "New client and server support for remotely joining and unjoining Domains" If i get this right, i can, from a Samba PDC server, issue a command and get a XP workstation remotely joined to the domain?, without ever going to the client machine? If this is OK, is there any place where i can see an example on how doing this? documentation? since i haven'...

Replication Problem with Deleted Object on Samba 4.1.17
Hello List, Im running an network with five samba 4 addc, all on debian wheezy with the sernet packages. Recently an replication error showed up for an single Computer (WIN7-M-ADMIN) record. So I unjoined the pc from the domain deleted it's record from dc1 manually on the other dc's it had been removed automaticaly during unjoin. Now I get the following error [2015/07/21 20:15:40.113205, 0] ../lib/ldb-samba/ldb_wrap.c:71(ldb_wrap_debug) ldb: No objectClass found in replPropertyMeta...

Package migration
Now that CentOS 7.5 ships with Samba 4.7 and has MIT Kerberos support, I would like to migrate away from the Sernet packages. Currently I have two Samba4 DC's. Can I easily swap the packages? Do I need to move all roles from #1 to #2, demote/unjoin, swap packages, rejoin/promote? .. What's the right way to migrate? Thanks in advance! j

"net join" failed, but it still worked
...ot found in Kerberos database ADS join did not work, falling back to RPC... Unable to find a suitable server for domain XXXXX Unable to find a suitable server for domain XXXXX My questions: 1. Is this command returning an error? And if so, why is it that access is now allowed? 2. Will "net unjoin" undo the command? If not, how do I undo it? Thank you, Chris

Feature request: delete machine script
Hi everyone, I am wondering what the likelyhood would be to get a "delete machine script" implemented in the samba core that would delete a machine upon successful un-join of a samba domain. Alternatively, why is this not a good idea? tom.

Any docs to convert samba server to Win2003 server?
...nt, the software they use requires a Windows server. Since the box is less than a year old, they do not want to purchase a second server for two applications. So, I am left with the task of converting the linux/samba server to WinBloze 2003 Server. There are only 10 workstations so if I have to unjoin them from the current domain and rejoin them I guess I could, but just wondered if there was a way to migrate the SID and such over to the new server?????

Windows clients losing connection to Samba 3.0.27 PDC on FC7 i386
...ers are able to log in by disconnecting their network cable and rebooting, then logging in with the cached credentials on the workstations. Reconnecting the NIC after login allowed the users to connect to network resources on the Samba PDC, and work until a reboot. A 'permanent' fix is to unjoin the PC from the domain and rejoin again. I had assumed that the issue was caused by the upgrade somehow, and that once every system had been re-joined it would go away. However, the workstation from this morning had been unjoined and rejoined once before and now I fear that the issue will keep cr...

enable client to join domain with no or any password?
I am trying to automate W7 joining to our Samba domain. It works fine through the Windows GUI from the W7 workstations. However, for a script one would have to store password used for domain access, and since that is the server's root password, I really don't want to hard code that into a file. Is there a way to set (temporarily) a Samba server so that it will accept (admin/anything) as

We need to change our AD domain
...into a new one. Passwords and machine accounts are not a problem and can be ignored for this exercise. The key things I need to copy across are user accounts and groups, as they would be an absolute pain in the rear end to redo from scratch. Machine accounts will be dealt with by the required unjoin/rejoin process. If a forced password change is the only thing users complain about I'll consider the migration a great success. Getting from a Samba 3 NT domain to a Samba 4 AD domain was relatively simple and painless. Surely there's a way to go from one Samba 4 AD domain to another....

Trying to add workstation to smb domain and get access denied
Rebooted my system for a windows update. When it came back up, It said the trust between my workstation and DC was broken. (Running Windows 7x64 SP1). Very odd, haven't seen that for a while. I thought it would be easy: unjoin/rejoin. But upon trying to rejoin, I get: The join operation was not successful. This could be because an existing computer account having name 'ANY' was previous created using a different set of credential. Use a different computer name, or contact your administrator to remove...

We need to change our AD domain
...ups and policies from one domain and import them into another? I've spent a few months getting everything just the way we want it and would greatly prefer not to have to start from scratch. Incidentally, I don't care about the computer accounts, as they will be dealt with by the normal unjoin/rejoin process. Any tips, advice or warnings anyone cares to share about this process would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, John

Rename computer, but still shows up as old name
...om has the following servicePrincipalName: HOST/DOMPC-NEWNAME ...etc... As you can see, it sees the new name everywhere except in the CN. So, is this expected behavior? I'm not seeing an obvious way to rename CN to new name, either via RSAT or via samba-tool. The workaround is, of course, to unjoin from domain, then rejoin, but I'd rather not have to do that if I don't have to. Thanks, and let me know if you need more deets.

...ipt on the domain. Therefore, the system is clean. It had to be redone due to a virus. We zeroed the disk using dd and a live CD, so this truly is a CLEAN install. Now, the only thing that may be an issue with this system, is that I am not sure the machine account was removed from the domain after unjoining it before we took it to wipe and redo it. If the old machine account is there, what should I do? Can I tell it to get fresh info from the workstation in some way? -- Lead IT/IS Specialist Reach Technology FP, Inc

DNS error connecting to Domain
Hello, I have a Windows 2000 Pro SP3 Laptop, and a RH 7.3 server running Samba 2.2.5. One day it refused to connect to the domain, said it wasn't available, couldn't access \\server01\user\profile directory, and refused to browse the samba server. Reboots didn't work. I unjoined the domain, and it complained that it could not remove the machine account from the server. After I rebooted it, I tried to join the domain again, and got a message (sorry, but this was a few hours ago) something like this: DNS lookup error. Unable to lookup the Domain controller in the Active D...
