Web server files ownership?
...websites hosted on two CentOS 7 servers, using Apache
virtual hosts. One of these servers is a "sandbox" machine, to test
things and to fiddle around.
On the sandbox server, I have a few dummy websites I'm hosting.
# ls /var/www/html/
default phpinfo slackbox-mail slackbox-site unixbox-mail unixbox-site
Since Apache is running as system user 'apache' and system group
'apache', I thought it sensible that hosted files be owned by that process.
# ls -l /var/www/html/

Mapping User from ADS
Hi folks,
I'm using Samba 3beta running on RH 8.0 and I'd like to authentificate against a Microsoft AD. This all works very well, except that not all AD User are mapped to my Unixbox!
When starting getent passwd, my UnixBox shoiws just my User from passwd and some of the AD User - not all!! Looking through my User with the command wbinfo -u all AD user are shown correctly!
Anybody knowing any workaround?
Attached I'm sending my setups.

Hi Niki -
Pete Biggs has weighed in with one way of setting Apache permissions. His
basic contention is right on: The user under which the Apache process runs
should not have write permissions.
The method we adopted at my...

Disappearing 'Z:'
...;m having some serious problems with Samba/NT. I've reinstalled NT from scratch and re-created the unix box with samba from scratch also but still the problem occurs.
We have two NT boxes, one of which is a PDC. Users logon to the PDC with their home directory set to be "connect Z: to \\unixbox\username" which generally works. Every hour or so i get a phone call, "my Z: is gone, where do i save my work?"
I have samba setup with the PDC as the password server.
If I look at samba's log it says all sorts of things about "this is insecure behaviour". If i stop...

copy a large volume of data from PC to samba server
Hi there,
Is there someone over there knows a method or script
that can copy a large volume of data (in folders) from PCs
to a samba server (suppose there is enough space there)?
I know using smbclient or smbtar can backup data on PCs
to samba server, but it is written in tar files.I wonder whether
this method can handle a large folder, say, in 10GB size.
Also, using smbclient with mget and

...places' on 'My Computer' on W2K ws I'm asked
for a username and password. If I provide 'boa' and it's password it is
working, I can see the shares on my SCO server. 'boa' is defined in
/etc/smbpasswd file. So, if I'm using the username which is defined in the
unixbox it is working well.
In the smbusers file user 'bognaa' is added and I'm logged in into
my W2K with username bognaa. It seems that the mapping is not working, due
to I'm asked for username and password. In the windows network I'm logged
into domain EUROPE. Must the username be...

...;time offset = 60' options set globally. David ( Rankin), you might wanna
try something similar ! ! ! !
There is something else, though, that didnt make sense to me ..... when I do a
'date' on the Unix box , the time I get is an hour behind the time I get by
issuing a
'net time \\Unixbox' from the NT client. Would that be the time difference
between Standard time and Daylight Savings time ? Why is there a discrepancy ?
