mounting ocfs2 partitions on boot
Hi list,
today, I installed a two node Oracle 10g RAC system on SLES9 SP2 RC2 which
shares
(via a SAN) a database volume and a quorum (ocr and voting). This volumes
are formated
with ocfs2 - so far no problem.
At the moment I'm stuck with the mounting of these volumes at boot time.
The user-guide
of ocfs2-tools mentions to add the corresponding lines to fstab - but at
the time when

Superscripts in axis label
Hi All,
I am trying to lable the y-axis on my scatterplot with the following:
"Soil moisture content (m3m-3)"
I am using the following coding for plotting the graph:
plot(soilmoisture~gradientlevel, xlab="Levels of droughting gradient", ylab="Soil moisture content (m3m-3)", bty="l", font.main="2", pch=16, las=1, cex.lab="1.13")

Using missing() in a S4 method with extra arguments
Hi all,
I have a function which makes use of missing() to determine which
arguments are provided in the call - basically, there are two sets of
arguments that map to different strategies the function uses to fulfill
its task. After conversion to an S4 generic I've run into the problem
that if a method uses extra arguments that are not in the signature of
the generic, usage of missing()

binding vectors or matrix using their names
Hello list,
I have two vectors x and x2:
x=runif(10)
x2=runif(10)
and one vectors with their names :
my.names=c("x","x2")
I would like to cbind these two vectors using their names contained in the
vector my.names.
I can create a string with comma
ncomma=paste(my.names,collapse=",")
and now, I just need a function to transform this string into a adequate

daemon in /etc/init.d/functions creates no pifile?
Hi,
we started using centos7 to run kvm+libvirt.
For novnc to virtual machines I like to start
websockify as a daemon by libvirt (as a hook)
Under Debian I used the line:
# start-stop-daemon --start --chuid $RUNUSER --make-pidfile --pidfile $PIDFILE --startas $PROGRAM -- $OPTIONS
which creates a nice pidfile.
In Centos I figured out, to include /etc/init.d/functions and I tried:
# daemon

How to test if two C statistics are significantly different?
Hey all,
In order to test if a marker is a risk factor, I built two models (using cox
proportional hazard model). One model included this marker, and the other is
not.
Then, I use R package risksetROC to test how much predictive value did the
marker add to this model. I get two C statistics by analyzing the linear
predictors of the two models into this package.
The qustion is How to test if two

migration 1.1.7 to 2.0.6
I'm thinking of migrating from 1.1.7 (default RPM on SUSE 11.1) to 2.0.6
compiled from source using the default locations.
Any Gotchas to expect that are different to an upgrade from 1.2?
Any hints from moving from RPM to compiling from source and retaining the
default configuration under /usr/local?
TIA

Problem with documentation of user-defined operator (S4 method)
Dear list members,
I have defined a binary operator %append% with methods for some S4
classes. In my documentation file, I want to list the methods explicitly
by using e.g.:
\S4method{\%append\%}{RecLinkData,RecLinkData}(x, y)
In the HTML documentation this comes out right as
## S4 method for signature 'RecLinkResult,RecLinkResult'
x %append% y

Fwd: Rcpp sugar dpois
Hi. Here is a piece of cpp code.
It works, but I do not understand the rational for the use of
"R::dpois" to call the function dpois since in the examples I have always
found directly "dpois" or "Rcpp::dpois" that both do not work in my code.
Could anyone be so patient to explain me why should it be like that?
Thaks a lot, Enrico

SPSS R-Menu for Ordinal Factor Analysis
Dear all,
I am trying to conduct an enhanced version of factor analysis with a
SPSS interface that allows to use R. This approach has been suggested in
the recent article:
Basto, M. and J.M. Pereira An SPSS R-Menu for Ordinal Factor Analysis.
Journal of Statistical Software 46, pp. 1-29.
My variables are ordinal-type and the tool of Basto allows to run

Package with multiple shared libraries
Dear R-devel members,
I would like to compile a package with two seperate shared libraries.
For example, in a package 'foo', a file 'bar.so' built from a distinct
set of source files should be installed in addition to the default
'foo.so' (or .dll on windows). Does anyone know about a way to achieve
this without having a custom Makefile, e.g. via 'Makevars'?

Help with dataEllipse function
...I color-code
the ellipse of each sample, but I do not know how to specify a different
line pattern for each ellipse. I can only modify the pattern for all
ellipses with the "lty" argument. Any help will be highly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

I'm facing a strange behavior in the the C code of a R package. This package, "rcqp", is a wrapper on an existing program that I did not write, "CWB".
In this package, on a linux (ubuntu and debian) system, the code :
