Predicting ordinal outcomes using lrm{Design}
...h observation. So my questions are (1) How do I pick the likeliest y (i.e., likeliest of the 4 possible ratings) for each given new observation? (2) Are there good reference that explain the theory behind this type of prediction to a beginner like me? Thank you very much, Jay Hegd? Sweave output from print.summary.glm is too wide
Hi all I am preparing a document using Sweave; a really useful tool. But I am having a problem. Consider this toy example Sweave file: \documentclass{article} \begin{document} <<echo=TRUE,results=verbatim>>= options(width=40) # Set width to 40 characters hide <- capture.output(example(glm)) # Create an example of the problem, but hide the output summary(glm.D93) #

So my question is how do I stop the bootsequence on Ubuntu during DHCPclient processing until an valid IP address is received ? NTLM and RDR Security Signatures
Hello, I've been using samba to share files on a Redhat server within a windows NT domain. Recently, security policies in the domain have changed, and security signatures are required for the LanManServer and Rdr services. Now that this has been deployed, I get an error when I try to connect to the SMB shares on the Redhat server from Windows hosts saying "account is not authorized to log

Polychor() - why does it take that long?
Hello. Using the polychor function > polychor(data[c(s1,s2)] ) for polychoric correlations of two ordinal variables in R takes a long time for N=7000 (20 minutes+) and significantly slows down my computer. Now, I have a pretty old computer, but it takes about 20 seconds for MPLUS to print out the complete polychoric correlation matrix for all 16 variables, while I am running the R function

I would like to implement a samba file server that authenticates of our existing ldap server. Would the best solution be to have samba authticate off of ldap through pam. Is this even available. Can anyone point me in the right

second y-axis in lattice xyplot
Dear R-help, I recently discovered lattice xyplot, but have been struggling with plotting a second y-axis. I am able to do this with plot() but can't figure it out in xyplot. Any help would be appreciated. I have found help on adding a second Y-axis when the data is all part of the same data frame, but I have two different data frames. Both data sets are being plotted against "Date".

PAM clustering (using triangular matrix)
Hi, I'm trying to use a similarity matrix (triangular) as input for pam() or fanny() clustering algorithms. The problem is that this algorithms can only accept a dissimilarity matrix, normally generated by daisy(). However, daisy only accept 'data matrix or dataframe. Dissimilarities will be computed between the rows of x'. Is there any way to say to that your data are already a
