Why deliver+usercheck? deliver+MTA?
...so, all howtos which I found on the web. If the user does not exist, the mail is bounced because the mail was already accepted by the MTA. Nowadays this is an unacceptable configuration! Is there a special reason why there is no discussion about this? However, as postfix seems to be really too unflexible I have set up exim to handle incoming mail and do the usercheck in the router (with an LDAP query). But now the user is doubled-checked: Once when receiving with exim and a second time in deliver. This is not necessary, so I guess I can disable the LDAP query for deliver and set up a static use...

Security issues when rsyncing directories as root
...with ssh and a key. The key is restricted in /root/.ssh/authorized_keys to a script that checks wither $SSH_ORIGINAL_COMMAND matches the rsync --server command that I expect, such as, for example, rsync --server -re.iLsfxC --delete . /etc/dhcp/synced/ Unfortunately, this is rather restrictive and unflexible. Things would be easier if rsync would have an option like --restrict-write, making rsync not write anywhere outside the path given there. That way, my script would be easier an I would only need to check server-wise whether the command line being called contains the --restrict-write option with t...

function table
...simple counting but a counting of the weights? And - another question how can I directly access the columns of my table? I tried e.g. count_table$2004 (because one column is named 2004), or count_table[2004] ... nothing worked. The access via column - number (count_table[,9]) woks, but will be to unflexible for the future. Thanks a lot for your help! [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

Limit consumption of space on destination?
I've just started using rsync, and it's way cool. I checked the FAQ, the broken mailing list archive search function, and scanned the archives, but didn't see this mentioned. I presume it's a fairly common need: I'm mirroring files automatically and daily from one site to another, and anticipate the day when the size of the files may exceed the size of the destination disk.

2 questions, frame size and SPEEX_GET_LOOKAHEAD
Ok, let me first explain why 5ms matters, even they are 0's, in my particular application. I am working on a speech synthesis system. The basic idea is concatenating pre-recorded phonemes or words into longer sentences. So any missing or extra samples, even it is as short as 5~10ms, cause very noticeable discontinuities. I want to use speex to compress/decompress those pre-recorded

lenny amd64 and xen.
I''ve installed debian lenny amd64, it is frozen now. I''ve install kernel for xen support but it doesn''t start. It says "you need to load kernel first" but I''ve installed all the packages concerning xen, also packages related to the kernel. Perhaps lenny doesn''t support xen anymore? Any solution?

gluster store and autostart - but fails
hi all I've a few guest which work/run perfectly fine, I believe, except for autostart. Configuration of system, gluster and libvirt is pretty regular and not complex. Errors I see: ... failed to initialize gluster connection (src=0x7f9424266350 priv=0x7f94242922b0): Transport endpoint is internal error: Failed to autostart VM 'rhel-work2': failed to initialize gluster connection

[At the risk of educating you about something you might already know] Natural speech in most human languages gradually changes from one phoneme to the next. Concatenating phonemes together from a fixed, prerecorded, unflexible set would give rise to abrupt changes between them (both in phoneme quality and in pitch), and thus make the resulting speech hard to understand and/or uncomfortable to listen to. Most flexible (unlimited vocabulary), unit (e.g. "phoneme") concatenation speech synthesizers therefore...

[PATCH] Persistent grant maps for xen blk drivers
This patch implements persistent grants for the xen-blk{front,back} mechanism. The effect of this change is to reduce the number of unmap operations performed, since they cause a (costly) TLB shootdown. This allows the I/O performance to scale better when a large number of VMs are performing I/O. Previously, the blkfront driver was supplied a bvec[] from the request queue. This was granted to

HFSC and prioritization
I''m using HFSC to limit bandwidth for our wireless customers. However, I''d also like the bandwidth prioritized based on packet type. This is what I''m trying right now, and I''d just like some input from anyone out there knowledgeable in this on whether it does what I want it to do: Eth1 -> HFSC ........|-> HFSC (User1) (Min 512 Kb, Max 1024 Kb, Burst 1536
