exclude the unfit data from the iteration
Dear List, Trying to explain my situation as simply as possible for me: I am running a series of iteration on coxph model on simulated data (newly generated data on each iteration to run under coxph; in my example below- sim.fr is the generated data). However, sometimes i get warning messages like "Ran out of iterations and did not converge" or "Error in var(x, na.rm = na.rm) :

complex barplot enquiry
Hello, I was hoping for some advice to resolve a problem I am having trouble with. The data consists of a series of pre and post variables, in a dataframe called 'offend'. I am interested in graphically depicting the pre & post values for a factor variable called 'decision' which has 4 values : nusm, fit, unsound & unfit. An example of a pre and post variable is:

moving average and NA values
The S-plus function moving.ave(data, span = 2) calculates the moving average, but it does not have an argument to tell it how to deal with NA values, so it will return NA for all averages as shown below. Is there an R or S moving average function which is able to omit some NA values in the dataset? In the simple sample shown below it would be possible to just remove the rows with NA values. The

OddcastDSP/Winamp2
Sorry for the long rave. I write Windows software for broadcasters (Radio & Internet) and in a newsletter I send out to my streaming clients I was recommending Ogg Vorbis/IceCast2 as the streaming solution for the future. All of my clients are using Windows and a lot of them are using Winamp2 for their broadcasting. Currently they would be forced to use the OddCastDSP. One client who should

virt-manager vs cli
I got the impression that the virt-manager does not provide all functionality towards managing kvm machines then the virsh cli tool does (i.e. towards deleting networks). Is that correct? if so, is there any GUI that provides complete access to kvm/qemu/libvirt? thx Gunnar

testing goodness of fit of linear model
Dear R-users, I've been reading a bunch of things on linear models but cannot quite find a clear answer. How can one determine whether a linear model is significant or not? For background info, I am modelling the response of topographic slope to the distance of a catchment's outlet. Some guys have shown that if there is a significant fit to a linear model, one can deduce the dynamic

SERIALIZE command
Hi all, Has anything changed since this email that will make OpenCL support in nouveau easier? I would like to compile some information about the different steps needed to have OpenCL support for Nouveau (and the ATI open-source drivers for that matters) so that people interested in this issue can have a starting document to read. Cheers, Albert. > Kernel allows you to create the relevant

[PATCH 1/1] Updated opus_types.h to correctly support 8 and 64 bit types.
...r signed or unsigned. It is even a compiler switch on some compilers. Changing this from "signed char" to plain "char" breaks when "char" is unsigned. Several of the changed lines introduce inconsistent indentation or spaces at the end of the line, which is somewhat unfitting for a patch whose purpose is to improve consistency. Have each of the affected #elif sections been tested on the platforms where that section is compiled? - Mark

Error from Trying to Mount Btrfs
I have the attached error from trying to mount btrfs on external hard drive. The F.S. was my primary system, then I dd''d it to an external and reinstalled Fedora. I tried to follow https://btrfs.wiki.kernel.org/index.php/Problem_FAQ#Filesystem_can.27t_be_mounted_by_label. I used "# btrfs device scan --all-devices" before attempting to mount.   What should I do?

A few comments: 1) Many embedded devices that have FLAC support only handle a subset of the FLAC capabilities. It seems highly unlikely that an embedded device would have the ability to parse Vorbis file format wrappers around FLAC data. In other words, depending upon how broad you want the support to be, it might be best to make this addition to FLAC rather than Vorbis. 2) In general, changes
