Printers not visible in "Add Printer Wizard"
...-> Screen "Locate Your Printer" Comment "Type the Printer Name or click Next to locate the Printer" Click Next -> Screen "Browse for Printer" In the browse screen appear : "Microsoft Windows Network" and "UNETIX" No machines appear that would be sharing printers, though the samba server is set to have a network printer shared. When I fill in in the screen "Local or Network Printer" in the field "Name" the service and the printername (like "\\fileserver\lp" ) and then cl...

Hi all, I have followed the instructions at http://samba.mirror.ac.uk/samba/docs/man/passdb.html in an attempt to set up a Samba v3.0.2 (supplied by Redhat as part of RHEL v3.0) PDC. I have got as far as trying to get a windows 2k box to join this new domain that I have created, however this fails with the error "Logon failure: unknown user name or password". Samba itself logs

It seems winxp puts all the information of printjobs spooled to a given printer exported with samba in its local printer spool queue of that printer (allso of other users in the domain) and never marks them as done/expired . ...nterdriver. When printing to the fax, the printfax.pl script connects back to the client on a port where respond.exe is listening , which pops up for the client to fill in the telephone number etc. But, this doesn't work anymore with samba-3.0 , this works flawlessly under samba-2.2.8a. Is it possible to mix the good things of samba-2.2.8a with samba-3.0 ? please. TIA Wim Bakker -- UnetIX Linux Solutions BV

Domain SID issue
Hello I have a client who historical had a machinename with an underscore in it : samba_machine I had to get rid of the underscore names and changed the name to samba-machine. At the same time I upgraded to samba-3.0.11 to get a printer queue problem resolved. Now it seems the Domain SID has changed, so I changed the new SID back to the old one with net setlocalsid, because on all machines I had

We currently use Netware as our network operating system, and are looking at the possibility of moving to (Samba on) Linux to provide file and print services. One of the nice things about Novell NDS is that you can specify printers that are available to
