x filemanager
Hi there, I've got two questions, and I'll list them in order of importance. (1) Is there a way, or is there any research/development going into unearthing a way, to mount a samba filesystem like any other filesystem under UNIX? And (2), does anyone know of a good X filemanager? What I would really like to do is be able to mount a Samba directory or resource and treat it like any other directory. That way, I could get away from the FTP-like inte...

[LLVMdev] Build problems and workarounds with CMake and XCode
Hello everyone, I finally gave up on trying to build under Eclipse on my Mac because I had a non-functioning installation on there that kept intercepting the command line entries on the path. Uninstalling the old MacPorts install of LLVM 2.6 helped but not completely. I tried making a separate build of LLVM SVN in XCode using build files created with CMake. Surprisingly, it worked better

sound conversion assistance
OK, I downloaded a batch of ".rm" audio files from the net. I can play them with mplayer or realplayer, but how can I convert them to something else, e.g. mp3, etc.? So far haven't unearthed any tools that can both read them and write out in another format. Thanks! -- ---- Fred Smith -- fredex at fcshome.stoneham.ma.us ----------------------------- "For him who is able to

Grandstream Ringtones
The about-to-be-released Grandstream firmware now supports multiple ringtones, but (so far) I haven't been able to unearth any documentation as to how one uses them. Anyone out there know anything about this? I've googled, read the firmware READMEs and combed the GS site without any luck. Thx. B.

Playing Warcraft II: Battle.net Edition
Hi all, I have a simple question (I think). I unearthed a copy of Warcraft II: Battle.net edition, and got a surge of nostalgia so I installed it. I have an Intel iMac running Snow Leopard. I was able to install the hybrid disc using Wine Bottler. (I mounted the Windows side of the disc via Terminal.) Now, when I hit "Play Warcraft II" it says that it can't find a file in the disc,

Engines & Rails 1.1.6
An excerpt from the recently-unearthed diary of Doctor Hans Zarkov: "There''s no sun! It''s 8:24 in the morning, and there''s no sun! There is a patch in the Engines release branch now (Changeset #415: http://dev.rails-engines.org/repository/changesets/415), which should work with Rails 1.1.6, and hopefully all Rails 1.1.x versions. Do you want to live forever?

kcc_periodic output
I've been grappling with a recurring set of errors for quite some time now: - UpdateRefs failed with NT_STATUS_IO_TIMEOUT - Failed samba_kcc - NT_STATUS_IO_TIMEOUT - IRPC callback failed for DsReplicaSync - NT_STATUS_IO_TIMEOUT Despite cranking up the log level to 10, the returned information remains frustratingly cryptic and hard to decipher. This error, being overly generic, continues to

sprof works on your Debian/Ubuntu ?
I'm asking here, rather than R-devel, because it seems to be a Linux specific question and because I'm using Ubuntu-9.04. I'm trying to profile an package, and got errors, so I decided to follow BDR's (http://tolstoy.newcastle.edu.au/R/devel/06/02/4254.html) example exactly, and got same problem. Can anyone replicate? $ sudo mkdir -p /var/tmp//usr/lib/R/library/stats/libs $

kcc_periodic output
Either the local server is busy, or possibly (but it would not explain the samba_kcc) Samba's drepl process is stuck talking to a remote server. Is the drepl local processes very busy doing inbound replication? My instinct is either the server is very busy (and this should show up in CPU use) or a transaction is being held open excessively. RSQLite - How to express(or save) a dataframe as an output?
Dear R helpers Suppose following is an output due to some R process. I wish to save it as a table in 'temp.db' df <- data.frame(x = c(5, 4, 3, 11), y = c(25, 16, 9, 121))     library(RSQLite)     write('** Initializing','')     drv <- dbDriver("SQLite", shared.cache = TRUE)     con <- dbConnect(drv, dbname = "temp.db",

My instinct is either the server is very busy (and this should show up in > CPU use) or a transaction is being held open excessively. I use VMs on Proxmox. In DC1, I installed the Proxmox agent, and CPU usage via the dashboard is very low. However, when I checked using 'top,' the LDAP

How to diagnose a busy LDAP server process in the Samba AD DC
Thanks for getting back to me. It seems to me the LDAP process being busy would be the root cause here. Working out what is going on here shouldn't is a detective task - I always start with a wireshark trace. The client making all the noise/traffic will be the one causing the trouble. If it isn't clear from that, then look into the DB audit logging for perhaps busy writes

Pre-packaged Python 2.7 for 32-bit CentOS 6?
Either this doesn?t exist or my Google-foo is failing me this morning. I keep coming across the Software Collections Repository (http://wiki.centos.org/AdditionalResources/Repositories/SCL), but that is for 64-bit only. Before I attempt to create Python-2.7 RPMs for 32-bit CentOS 6 to install into /usr/local or /opt/python-2.7, I wonder if someone else has done this so I don?t have to re-invent

openssl with FIPS140-2 ??
I see that CentOS does not provide the FIPS140-2 package for openSSL. I don't know if RH provides it or not. Can someone advise me on the best way to get it onto a CentOS or RHEL system, without breaking things? I'd also appreciate ANY related wisdom that's available, having pretty much NO wisdom of my own. thanks! Fred -- ---- Fred Smith -- fredex at fcshome.stoneham.ma.us

Trouble Computing Type III SS in a Cox Regression
I should hope that there is trouble, since "type III" is an undefined concept for a Cox model. Since SAS Inc fostered the cult of type III they have recently added it as an option for phreg, but I am not able to find any hints in the phreg documentation of what exactly they are doing when you invoke it. If you can unearth this information, then I will be happy to tell you whether
