How to enable SHA1 passwords after migration from OpenSUSE?
...recently migrated my old server from OpenSUSE 10.0 to CentOS 5.
Almost everything works great, except for one thing - user passwords.
In the old system they were in a form:
root:$2a$05$9V.P3/KV2fd0r/O8hs0gNueaidF35edj3DL6skb32qZJNpvwVHiUO:12183:0:99999:7:::
and that format doesn't seem to be understood by CentOS. When I change
the password I get something like:
root:$1$Z0HGYkIb$fbkW0gR6c.k7rENE1NlzE0:14055:0:99999:7:::
Note the encrypted password begins with $2a$... in OpenSUSE while in
CentOS it starts with $1$... CentOS passwords (MD5?) are understood by
OpenSUSE but OpenSUSE passwords (SHA1?...

some question about BDCs
...gon requests and authenticate users. The BDC can continue to provide this
service,
>particularly while, for example, the wide-area network link to the PDC is
down.
So, when I have SaMBa PDC (with master LDAP) and BDC (with slave LDAP), can
BDC update machine and/or user information or not? As I understood, only the
LDAP solution is suitable for a PDC-BDC setup, because "domain member
servers and workstations periodically change the Machine Trust Account
password", so BDC has to update some data.
As I understood, BDC can change at least Machine Trust Account passwords.

Install Samba4 as File Server
Hi
I intend to install Samba 4 as a file server on Debian 10 with apt-get.
I understood it, I don't need to install the OS dependencies (
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Package_Dependencies_Required_to_Build_Samba#Debian_.2F_Ubuntu),
because I will use the distribution repository.
This way, do I need only packages below?
# apt-get install acl attr samba samba-dsdb-modules samb...

error message not understood
Greetings!
I just successfully installed wine under red hat linux 7.1, the latest
kernel. I am running windows 2000 Professional on my Dos partition. I
have been able to run some of the software I need to stay in linux
instead of having to switch to win2k, but I'm having problems with
Membership Plus 6.0c.
Here's the command I give to try and run it: [johnfg@church johnfg]$

syncpasswords/getpassword: some examples, please...
...nected to the previous...]
I need a way to ''preprocess'' or at least intercept password changes,
because i need to propagate them to other ''legacy'' systems.
I've looked around and found syncpasswords / getpassword samba-tool
commands, but really i've not understood how they work.
Seems to me that can be useful in my scope, but really i've not
understood how.
Googling around lead me to some mailing list posts, but was not
sufficient (at least to me) to understand.
Wiki seems have nothing on this topic.
Someone can explain to me? Thanks.

[LLVMdev] Does getelementptr get optimized in compile-time?
...ted above among your answer.
http://nondot.org/sabre/LLVMNotes/SizeOf-OffsetOf-VariableSizedStructs.txt
There is a brief document about using getelmentptr trick above.
And I was wondering something similar to this case.
%Size = getelementptr %T* null, int 1
%SizeI = cast %T* %Size to uint
I understood that for this case, getelementptr will be collapsed to a
number during optimization. It is also explained in the brief document
above. I didn't understood by the document at that time.
OK. Thank you very much. I understood very well.

Specification: Bi variate minimization problem
...e two datasets should ideally not have any range of overlapping values. That is
max(x) << min (Y)
but that is not the reality of the problem. there are usually overlaps, bigger or smaller.
Now, what I want to do is the following:
Suppose that we choose a value P so that.
Any X <= P is understood as belonging to group X while
any Y > P is understood as belonging to group Y.
now any values of X > P or of Y <= P are wrongly understood as belonging to Y nad X effectively.
Hence we have Xerr -- > Sum( X >P) and Yerror --> Sum(Y<=P).
I want to solve this bivariate optimiz...

RFC: LNT/Test-suite support for custom metrics and test parameterization
Hi Matthias,
Thank you for your answer.
But can you answer for some more questions?
First of all, now LNT uses make-style of running tests and parse results from result csv file. Are there any plans to go to cmake?
As I understood lit will run and collect all metrics, but there is no opportunity to make any settings for choosing what metrics I would like to collect. Test reports files allow to choose what report I would like. One time I can use one, second time I can use another. I can do this with cmake only by changing tes...

Why not mod_ruby?
Hi!
I''ve understood that the mod_ruby apache module is not recommended for
running Ruby on Rails applications. But I haven''t found any information
as to why that is so. Please enlighten me. And could you point me to the
(currently) prefered production environment. (That can handle both RoR
and PHP sites)....

help a journalist: What do you wish the CIO understood about fighting spam?
Hi, folks. I'm senior online editor at CIO.com, and I'm working on an
article for which I'd very much like your help.
There's often a lack of communication between techies and top company
management. Maybe they don't want to hear about problems; perhaps you
give them technical details that are far more granular than they want
to know. But dealing with spam is a topic

asterisk 1.4.10 on linux kernel 2.6 needs timing device for trunking
I understood that a timing device (ztdummy if no zaptel hardware is
present) was not necessary anymore with linux kernel 2.6.
When I enable iax2 trunking I get this warning

I don't understand the 'order' function
I thought I've understood the 'order' function, using simple examples like:
order(c(5,4,-2))
[1] 3 2 1
However, I arrived to the following example:
order(c(2465, 2255, 2085, 1545, 1335, 1210, 920, 210, 210, 505, 1045))
[1] 8 9 10 7 11 6 5 4 3 2 1
and I was completely perplexed!

The docs a re a bit weird on "Directory hashing"
In squid we use a double layer of hashed directories on the FS to allow
storage of millions of files.
I was reading the "Directory hashing" section but never understood it..
since it's written.. in a way I could not understand.
I am using this line:
mail_location = maildir:/home/vmail/%d/%n/Maildir/
and I want to migrate to a hash based directory scheme.
While trying to understand how that hash will work I stumbled a old
thread at:

xgobi?
Hi all,
As far as I understood from the documentation of xgobi. The package is
intended to plot data in 3D (and more). Why if I enter example(xgobi)
nothing displays even though the example calls also the xgobi command (yes I
did load the library)? Do I need to install anything else for xgobi to work?
I use R 1.6.1. on Windo...

SIP OPTIONS dialog not understood

getting is a "heartbeat" of OPTIONS messages coming from the Metaswitch
which my Asterisk box replies to. The exchange looks like:

tools::parseLatex() crashes on "\\verb{}"
...s to do the right thing here. As defined in "Parsing Rd
files" [*], \code{} blocks are supposed to contain syntactically valid
R code. When something that is not valid R is given in a Markdown code
block, roxygen2 should not output \code{}, so it outputs \verb{}.
Also, unlike in LaTeX as understood by tools::parseLatex(), \verb{}
blocks use the {} braces in R documentation, and are understood
correctly by tools::parse_Rd(). Perhaps you also need tools::parse_Rd()?
