samba+ldap windows problem
Hi everybody! I don't know if this is a samba or ldap problem, so here is the problem and you decide. I've installed Samba+LDAP to replace the windows solution. The workstation in the network are w2k so the need to logon to the samba+ldap for all the setting to be fetched. The logon is working the only trouble is that I can't get the option for changing the password, when I press the

Troubleshooting inplace editor
I can''t get the inplace editor to do anything for me. The output appears as regular formated, unclickable text. Maybe I am missing something simple. 1. I just downloaded script.aculo.us <http://script.aculo.us> 1.5_rc3 and copied it to my javascript folder. 2. To set up a simple test, I created a new test page containing only the copied from demo1 from the script.aculo.us

Installing R on Mac OS X Leopard
Hi there, I've used R before, but I just got a new computer with Leopard and I'm having trouble installing. I download the installer, but when I reach the end of the install process, the "install" button remains gray and unclickable. I've tried both standard and custom, as well as installing on my flash disk, to no avail. Any suggestions? I'd rather not build from

Local library under Windoze.
Continuing to try to customize my environment for using R under Windoze, I experimented with installing a package from CRAN in a local library ``Lib''. I created the directory ``Lib'' in the folder in which R starts, and then executed > install.packages("abind",lib="Lib") Everything went according to form (I got prompted to choose a mirror, etc.) until

Unread mail problem
Okay, here is the set up. I have Outlook set up to keep mail on the server for 5 days. At some point I started downloading all my mail that was on the server over and over again, even though I already have the mail. The weird thing is that it did not download all the mail, just a few. For example it would download 6 messages, then 18, then 12, etc! After I tried it a few times I had 50 of the same

Visited Link Style and link_to_remote
...one page, as far as one of them is clicked, all the others will change the status to "click". Now I am solving this problem by not using <a> tag (which means directly using javascript, not the link_to_remote helper) and custom define the class for mouseover, mouseout, clicked and unclicked. Is there any better approaches? -Tony -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

panel as child of grid on Windows
I am attempting to add controls inside a Wx::Grid. I added a Wx::Panel as a child of the grid, then added a control to that panel. In the actual code, the child panel would be sized and located inside a single grid cell, but I simplified the example code. On linux with GTK, this code performs as expected--you get a green panel with a clickable button in it. On windows XP, however, the grid and

RE: Rails-spinoffs Digest, Vol 2, Issue 22
Hi Jonah, I support usability. For a great book on it, read Jakob Nielsen''s "Designing Web Usability: The Practice of Simplicity" and, for a great general book on usability, try "The Design of Everyday Things." You''re right. Drag ''n drop is not the best tool for many things. Unless something offers a 50%+ advantage over an existing method of doing

A long digression on packages
Hello again, First, thanks for the help that got the latest plotrix package finished. I had been planning to write something about packages since Scott Waichler offered the gantt.chart function. Then Ben Bolker (who helped me to write the axis.break function) asked if I would be willing to include some of his plotting functions and almost immediately after that Sander Oom kindly donated the
