[LLVMdev] LSR is Unbearably Slow
I just filed bug 7872 about non-scalability of the LSR analysis algorithms. It may be related to bug 6727. The fundamental problem appears to be re-running SCEV analyses such as properlyDominates and SCEVComplexityCompare over and over again on large SCEV expressions. Memoizing results for SCEVComplexityCompare appears to help significantly but that is much harder to do with things like

[LLVMdev] LSR is Unbearably Slow
I also noticed LSR spending a lot of time in GenerateAllReuseFormulae, just to have some cases pruned in NarrowSearchSpaceUsingHeuristics. I'm not familiar enough with the code to comment on how this affects the quality of LSR results, but a hack is to "EstimateSearchSpaceComplexity" inside the loops of GenerateAllReuseFormulae and cut out early. - Jan On Wed, Aug 11, 2010 at 2:48

Wine Unbearably Slow
After using Wine without any significant hitches for over a year, I've just come across one. Every time I load any application (even winecfg), it takes between thirty seconds to one minute for it to load. During this time, normal functions take forever or don't work at all (selecting folders, opening a file, etc.). Sometimes it will load and work just fine, but often the program continues

How to limit Apple Mail (desktop)?
By default, Apple Mail downloads all e-mails from server's account. Previous versions of this client allowed to opt-out. The latest two versions? however, only allow to opt-out from downloading the attachments. The stress on the server is unbearable. We cannot ask users to be considerate: this is the default behaviour of Apple Mail. We need a server-side solution to the problem. Please

slow slow slow
I find apps running in wine are unbearably slow. In particular - HTML-Kit by Chami. I really like this editor on NT at work, I want to use it at home on my FreeBSD box. It works in wine, just very very slowly. I do not have a windows partition. I'm running wine by itself. Any suggestions on ways to get speedier results? -- Chip &l...

meetme conference latency degrades...
We have recently started making more frequent use of the meetme conference of our * system. We are using v1.0.8 with a 2.6.11 kernel on our system. We generally have 4 callers in it: two with the gsm codec and 2 with g729. Initially, the conference works fine and there is little latency. After about 15min., though, the latency is very noticable and by 25min it's unbearable. If we all leave

OT: Blank mails from this list
Hi all, I apologise for this off-topic question, but wanted to hear from a third-party as well. Recently, like the last week or so, I've started getting blank emails from this list. Blank as in no message text is visible in the email. If I do a ctrl-A however, something does get marked. Evidently there is a message, just not visible. This particular list is the only one I've noticed

Spore fails to run on new Wine versions, plus fglrx issues
Hi, While running Spore (steam version) on 1.1.42 with a GeForce 8600GT on Arch Linux x86-64, everything worked fine except for occasional DxDllReg.exe crashes. I have since replaced the card with an ATi Radeon HD4800 and the user interface now unbearably flickers, garbles (inflated bits of text and other UI elements appearing randomly) and generally looks far from correct (to the point where I can't see the graphics options to try changing things). The console output is full of GLSL fun: Code: fixme:d3d_shader:print_glsl_info_log Error recei...

What am I missing?? Activerecord & Sessions!!
Can someone please explain why every time that I call an action in my controller, every model that is stored in the session needs to be interpreted by a database query? If I have four models stored in the session, I end up with five long "SELECT a.attname, format_type(a.atttypid, a.atttypmod), d.adsrc, a.attnotnull FROM pg_attribute a LEFT JOIN pg_attrdef d....." queries when *ANY*

Problems with g729
I am having some problems with g729 with SIP and ZAP channels. 1) I have two g729 licences. Very frequetnly (I don?t know what triggers the error) I get the following warnings and error when I try to place a call via SIP to my X100P. The only way to get out of this is through a restart of *. When the error ocurrs there are no other calls in place. Any ideas? Error Opening channel:2 not

OT: Blank mails from this list
...o message text is visible in the email. > ... > Has anybody else seen this, or is just me? I have seen blank body (but still with the list's .sig) emails for a while on my android phone. The email shows up fine in Thunderbird on CentOS (well, I say 'fine' when in reality it was unbearably tiny text until I installed the 'no small text' extension; the CentOS 7 Thunderbird does not have some of the knobs you are supposed to adjust to fix this (it's the font size for the message encoding, and the encoding needed is not in the dropdowns in the C7 Thunderbird, and I'm...

[OT] Serving Multiple Stylesheets
I was wondering whether there is unbearable overhead involved in breaking css into multiple stylesheets? I''m running lighttpd, and the following article discusses why one might want to do that: http://justinfrench.com/?id=141 My CSS is beginning to get a bit lumpy to digest in one glance and the article(s) seem to make a cogent argument for separating functional elements out. I just

CentOS 3.4 on Compaq Proliant
I am trying to install CentOS 3.4 on a Compaq Proliant 1600, and it hangs on probing monitor type when anaconda starts. I have tried running 'linux text' and manually installing drivers from the f2 options screen. Any ideas? Forgive me if this is an unbearably simple question, but I am new to linux. Mike

choppy and cracking sound from zyxel prestige 2002
Hi, Does anyone have suggestions hooking Zyxel Prestige 2002 to Asterisk? I have tested Zyxel Prestige with both supported codecs. Call with G.711 sounds very choppy and cracking. Almost can't understand a word. Today I installed G.729 support into Asterisk but unbearable voice quality remains. It's a little bit better though. I have tested that Zyxel ATA with some commercial SIP

very slow network from GXP-2000 switch port
Hello, At a client site yesterday I installed a dozen GrandStream GXP-2000's with 1.1.0.13 firmware but I had to backtrack and reactivate the old PBX and phones: network access for users windoze PC's through the phone's switch port was unbearably slow, making it almost impossible to work. When plugging back PC's directly to the LAN speed was normal again. On my test setup with a single phone here a the office I don't have that problem. Is there a known issue with that firwmare version? Could the switch be playing foul? (a Netg...

printing question
...t management speed issues from last week. In a level 10 log, I see several 'print cache expired for queue <printername>' whenever I try to open the Printers folder. After uploading a driver, I see the same behavior when trying to close the Properties window. This makes administration unbearably slow. I am about to try non-cups printing instead to see if it is any more useful. Is there something obvious I am missing? Quick googling for some of the error strings I see doesn't produce anything helpful. -Will _____________________________________________ Will Saxon Systems Programmer -...
