Encoding ultrasonics
...requencies above 20k are effectively not encoded.
I've been trying to get up to speed on the specification, and studying its
operation, but as far as I can infer, there is a fixed set of 21 bands
distributed logarithmically to encode DC to 20k. If I were inclined to
encode at say, 96k, and pass ultrasonics up to 40k, I suppose I could in
theory lie to the encoder about its input rate so it thinks it's 48k, and I
could restore its 96k rate after decoding, but obviously this would result
in doubling the necessary bit rate. Is there a more efficient way to encode
information over 20k without breakin...

High Sampling Rates
That article is a bit too dismissive. I agree that one cannot hear the
difference between 48KHz/16bit and 192KHz/24bit if you just transfer the
data directly to the audio output device. As such, there is no good
reason for Opus to support higher than 48KHz (especially since this is
lossy compression, anyway).
However, in general, that's not all you do with audio data.
192KHz is useful for

surface plotting
I am new to R and what to find out which package would be best to create a
surface plot, 2d or 3d if possible. I have a matrix (depth.dat) which has
over 15k depth measurements from an ultrasonic corrosion mapping
application. These depth measurements only have one axis (x) but I have used
Octave and gnuplot providing decent results, but R seems to have a web
interface with PERL which is what I

Image Processing packages
Hi,
I've been looking for Image Processing packages. Thresholding, Edge
Filters, Dct, Segmentation, Restoration. I'm aware, that Octave, Matlab
etc. would be a good address but then I'm missing the "statistical
power" of R. Does anybody know of packages, projects etc. Comments on
wether the use of R for such matters is useful are welcome.
Greetings
