server renaming problems
Good Morning,
I have a Sun E220R I am building as a replacement for an Ultra2.
The OS is Solaris 2.7, samba version is 2.2.2.
As a test box I named the E220R 'tiamat'. The older U2 is 'terra'.
Tiamat had samba running happily on it.
Last night I tested the switch over by using /usr/sbin/sys-unconfig on
tiamat. This strips the system id, hostname, IP address...

Adaptec SCSI Card 2930LP supported by CentOS 5.x?
Hi,
for a specific application we need a low-profile SCSI card (PCI) with
external 50pin connector. I thought about getting an "Adaptec SCSI Card
2930LP". However I was not able to find any usable information about
wether this card is supported by Linux/CentOS 5.x or not. Does anyone
have this card working with a CentOS 5.x machine?
Alternatively: Are there any linux-supported

using text() to write into left margin
...into the left margin (to the left of the axis)
as follows:
> plot(0:10,0:10,pch="+")
> text(c(1,0.5,0,-0.5,-1),1,"O")
I see 5 "O" symbols at the expected position, two of
which are left of the left axis.
However, in version 0.64.0 for Solaris 2.5.1 on a
Sparc/Ultra2, I only see three "O" symbols. Those
that are to the left of the axis do not appear.
Is this an expected result?
I am using text() instead of mtext() because I want
the labels to appear at Y co-ordinate positions as
normal text, not rotated 90 deg. These are text
labels rather than nu...

Hi,
I have a returning problem with one of my sparc Solaris machines. I have a

openssh/openssl have a not permanent problem. If i try to connect to the
machine, i get sometimes these errors:

cvs bulid breaks on slackware
cvs code from this morning (about 9am PST) breaks on slackware 7.1 w/ gcc

this seems to be the culprit here:

session_setup_sia(pw->pw_name, ttyname);
since i have no idea what that's trying to accomplish (and seems to be a bit

CentOS on Compaq Proliant Rackmount Servers
Greetings,
Can anyone relate experience(s) installing CentOS on Compaq rack mount
servers units please?
Easy no problem, easy some issues, or ghastly do not do it under any
circumstances... ;)
Basically, I'm looking at some used/refurb dual PIII units and will run RAID
on Compaq built in SCSI or is it easy to pop in some 3ware SATA in them?
Let me know in terms of CentOS 3 and/or 4 please.

Uid problems with linux kernel 2.6.1
Hi,
I am not sure I should be posting this to this list,
so if it shouldn't have, please let me know where I
should be posting it.
Here is my configuration:
- samba server is a Sun Ultra2 running Debian testing
with kernel 2.4.21 and Samba 3.0.0
- samba client is a PC running Debian unstable with
kernel 2.4.22 upgraded to 2.6.1 and SMB client 3.0.1
- Several PC acting as clients
On the server, the directory I share belong to uid

Probs with Solaris 2.6
...rom a perl script running on the host. The script
brings up an ssh connection to the central admin machine and sets
up some reverse port redirection for administration (telnet for
instance) and some forward redirection for offsite real time
logging.
This is working fine except a Solaris 2.6 box (Ultra2) has started
spontaneously rebooting. I put this down to hardware until today,
when I was working on the machine through the redireted telnet port
and accidently closed the ssh session from the host machine.
This dropped my session of course, big deal I thought, but the
host dropped to single use...

Cannot apply delete-sent-files.diff on solaris platform
I have been trying various ways and looking though the lists, but I can't
seem to find a solution.
I am running a Ultra2 with Solaris 9 and rsync 2.5.2, with the old
-move-files patch.
I want to upgrade to 2.6.3 with the delete-sent-files patch. Which I
understand is the new and improved version serving the same purpose.
Unfortunately my patch under Solaris did'nt work, so I d/l the GNU version
