Memdisk + Freedos problem
...e strange thing is, if I use grub4dos floppy emulation instead of sylinux/isolinux + memdisk all entries work. Syslinux/isolinux + memdisk + freedos image work in a virtual machine. Only on my real PC and some other PCs, it doesn't work, while it does work perfect on some PCs also. http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1635 http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/forums/viewtopic..php?t=1829&highlight=invalid+opcode http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1545&highlight=invalid+opcode Freedos image for UBCD download link: http://ubcd.partedmagic.com/downloads/fdubcd/r133/fd...

...or this. Run it on your system and it will highlight memory problems. It can be found at www.memtest.org - the precompiled versions are tiny and will fit on a floppy (or memory stick or CD). If that doesn't detect anything try running a hardware diagnostic - there's a load on the UBCD (www.ultimatebootcd.com) or Hiren's BootCD ( www.hiren.info). You might want to download one of those anyway as they both contain MemTest86+. None of this needs you to open the case. P.

Major problems with 2.0.7 and SATA drives
Hello everyone, I''m hoping to find an answer to my problem here. Currently I''m installing xen 2.0.7 on 30 dual opteron machines with 4GB memory. The machines have Tyan K8SR as motherboard with Silicon Image 3114 chip sata controler and 2 x 300 GB Western Digital SATA drives. Each xen server has 5 domUs, where some of them have high traffic and thus require high disk usage.

Usin ISO Linux & Memdisk to create a Viritual Floppy drive that Linux & Windows can load driver disk from.
Hi, It is becoming a bad habit for big OEM vendors to sell computers & servers without floppy drives. Unfortunatly both Windows and Linux (RedHat) need a floppy drive to load storage drivers etc. during installation. This is what I was thinking: Use ISOLINUX and MEMDISK to load a floppy image of a driver disk into memory as a viritual floppy drive "A:"/"/dev/fda" And then

Looking for a good disk exerciser
I recently added a Seagate 400Gb SATA drive to my system, and it has been behaving strangely since I put it in. for one thing, the BIOS S.M.A.R.T. came up with a warning the last time I booted with it enabled, saying that I should backup my data and replace the disk (!). I still have not made any irreversible data transfers to this drive, and I have some time yet to take it back, but I'd
