Equivalent of pxechain.com for (USB key based) syslinux
...olves this issue. With pxechain.com
I can say the following in my master pxelinux.cfg/default:
default menu.c32
prompt 0
menu title LGL PXE boot menu
timeout 100
LABEL KubuntuNet
menu Kubuntu network install
kernel pxechain.com
append ::kubuntu904/netboot/pxelinux.0
LABEL udpcast
menu label Udpcast
kernel pxechain.com
append ::udpcast/pxelinux.0
This correctly hands off to the (unmodified) pxelinux.cfg/default's in
the distribution's subdirectories. All KERNELs and initrds now use the
subdirectory (kubuntu904, udpcast) as their current direc...

On Machine Accounts
I have a few (~20) workstations dual booted with GNU/Linux and Windows
XP. When configuration changes on these systems (about once a month)
I deploy a full disk image with UDPcast [1]. Unlike recent versions
of Norton Ghost, UDPcast have no post-deploy option to change the
machine name and/or trust account. Most of the time those systems are
running on GNU/Linux and only occasionally will two of those be
running Windows at the same time.

Extensions for long fat networks?
Before I get too far in my attempts...
Has anyone already implemented support in scp for larger
buffers/windows that would take advantage of wscaled TCP
windows?

FYI: Linux 2.4.20, 30-80ms RTT, data rates 100-1000Mbps,
and a need to fill TCP windows of 2-8MBytes.
(Existing limits appear to be about 256KB.)

usb-fdd with isohybrid??
...d to boot from it, I just get a cursor in the
top left. In linux it comes up as a cdrom.
Is there a process for this, or is this a case of having to use another method.
Some time ago, I had use syslinux to boot from a flash, but I had to set an option in the cmos
that would then not allow the udpcast cds to boot.
Thanks.

booting w98 bootdisk via memdisk
Hallo,
I try to boot the windows 98 bootdisk via memdisk. It doesn't work
completely.
Booting a freedos FD image works, booting the windows 98 image works
too.
But the windows 98 boot disk then should extract the file "ebd.cab" with
the file "extract.com", and that step fails.
Is that a syslinux problem or a windows problem?

Hosts leaving domain without reasons...
Hello all,
I've got Samba 3.0.24-6etch4 (Debian revision) running on a production server
which acts as a PDC for a network of some Windows XP clients (around 250).
Since sometime (I am not able to determine exactly when) I get a strange
problem arising : some clients are banned from my domain. The only solution I
found is to reintroduced the clients into the domain. Once hosts have rejoined

PXE Boot Solution
Once again I feel horrible for asking something I feel is completely
off topic for this group but everyone is so extremely helpful :(
In my organization, we basically use Windows PE disks, to do our
re-images, after some time and a lot of help from this group
I was able to get a thumb drive to successfully work as a Windows PE
bootloader, as well as some other utilities like wiping the

Alternating boot default entry every reboot
Hi,
I am currently using isolinux (syslinux-6.03) in a clonezilla setup. It
boots fine, however I want to have a setup where the default boot selection
alternates every boot.
* First boot : Default is menu item 0
* Second boot : Default is menu item 1
* Third boot : Default is menu item 0
...
The idea is that when it is booted into clonezilla the clonezilla script
checks if the system needs to

KEEPPXE/DOS
First off I love syslinux and it has worked flawless for us on the unix side of the realm.
We're trying to use our ghost images within a dos netboot using syslinux. Unfortunatly we can only pass DHCP ip's to hosts that exhibit a vendor code 'like windows/pxe/and other os's do". Unfortunatly DOS does not, so we cannot request a second IP after the pxe process to map samba
