[PATCH] fix udevinfo version string parsing
check_hotplug fails on one of my machines running ubunto 4.10 "Warty Warhog", due to misparsing the udevinfo version string. The problem is caused by an old version of sed that does not appreciate the regexp. This patch fixes it, and also works on debian unstable and SLES9SP2. Please apply... About hotplug/udev
Hello, The current dependancy on hotplug|udev (>= 0.59) seems bad. As far as I remember, last week, when I tried to install Ralph packages, I got an error from hotplug/udev and I had to use udev from backports.org Anyone know which version of udev/hotplug we will have to depends on ? Maybe we could simply rely on a recent udev dependancy, because afaik udev now provides hotplug. -- Julien

Disable specific LUN on a SCSI bus
...is a way at boot time do disable specific LUN's on a SCSI bus of a particular controller? I'm trying to write an udev rule, but it seems that the system ignores the "vendor" model/name of the controller... For example: I want to disable /dev/sdb; so I gather some information with udevinfo -a -p /sys/block/sdb and I try to use them to write /etc/udev/rules.d/10-custom.rules ID=="?:0:1:0", BUS=="scsi", DRIVER=="sd", SYSFS{model}=="DDYS-T36950N ", SYSFS{vendor}=="IBM ", OPTIONS="ignore_device", OPTIONS+="last_rul...

mdadm and drive identification?
...ly different SATA controller/computer and still have the RAID intact. My problem is that I have no "for sure" way of matching a drive assigned to one of the /dev/sd[a-z]. Normally I could use a number of methods to match up what /dev/sd[a-z] is to a drives serial number. smartctl, hdparm, udevinfo, /dev/disk/by-uuid, or /dev/disk/by-id. However, the 3ware card obfuscates the drives from the OS and those methods don't work. The only way I know how to get a drives serial number is via the smartctl command like "smartctl -d 3ware,[0-15] -i /dev/twa0", but that does not tell me whi...

KDE and mounting CD's / DVD's without noexec
...lly use gnome and would do the following to make my CD / DVD mount with exec gnome-mount --write-settings --device /dev/sdc0 -o exec What is the equivalent in KDE ? My initial research suggests that I actually have to write a custom udev rule to achieve this. This has led me as far as running udevinfo -q path -n /dev/scd0 udevtest /block/sr0 (the output is below) My question is which of these commands is actually doing the mount as all I want to change is the exec flag rather that how the device is labeled. main: looking at device '/block/sr0' from subsystem 'block' run_p...

RHEL-6 vs. CentOS-5.5 (was: Static assignment of, SCSI device names?)
...uld find the spare time. I'm happy with simply writing a little script which accepts a /dev/sdX device name argument and reformats the output of: 'udevadm info --query=path --name=/dev/sdX' to extract the hardware path. It's a bit cleaner than the current RHEL-5/CentOS-5 'udevinfo' command. Using the numeric path assumes knowledge of how the motherboard sockets are laid out and the order in which I/O controller channels are discovered, of course. It's then not difficult to trace a failed drive by attaching little tags to the SATA cables from the controller cards...

LVM and hotswap (USB/iSCSI) devices?
Hi list, I'm having one of those 'I'm stupid' -problems with LVM on CentOS 5.2. I've been working with traditional partitions until now, but I've finally been sold on the theoretical benefits of using LVM, but for now I only have a huge pile of broken filesystems to show for my efforts. My scenario; I attach a disk, either over USB or iSCSI. I create a PV on this

dom0 networking disabled
Hi folks, I''ve been trying to work out this situation for a few days now without much success and dug all over the archives for similar issues, none of which seem to relate exactly. I installed Debian Etch and the Xen (3.03) kernels / binaries on a Dell server. It works fantastic with all the default configurations with one strange flaw - as soon as the /etc/xen/scripts/network-bridge
