Lightscribe
...abeler which promptly
and stubbornly tells me "--<no lightscribe drives found>--".
This IS a lightscribe drive, according to the specs, the box and the
logo on the tray.
This is on a fully update CentOS 5.4 system that has behaved very well
since I built this box (Gigabyte MA770T-UD3P) about 3-4 months ago.
This is certainly no a critical situation but having new stuff that
doesn't work is rather irksome to me.
Can anyone offer a clue or two?
Thanks!

Still more questions WRT selecting a mobo for small ZFS RAID
...I and no negatives. The only negative on the Intel side seems to be the lack of ECC memory outside of expensive server mobos.
As things stand, I am leaning towards a P35/ICH9 or P45/ICH10 setup. In particular, I am considering either the P5E-VM HDMI for a small integrated solution or the GA-EP45-UD3P for something with greater expandability.
So, my questions:
- Has the MCP55 copy/fs lockup bug been fixed yet?
- Have the Nvidia 750a driver issues been resolved?
- Are the AMD southbridges still in the not-recomemded category?
- Are there any downsides to going with with an ICH controller wit...

Motherboard for home zfs/solaris file server
Hello,
I am building a home file server and am looking for an ATX mother board
that will be supported well with OpenSolaris (onboard SATA controller,
network, graphics if any, audio, etc). I decided to go for Intel based
boards (socket LGA 775) since it seems like power management is better
supported with Intel processors and power efficiency is an important
factor. After reading several

ntpd under Xen Dom0 exhibits extremely high jitter/noise? runs stable/quiet under non-xen kernel.
On a selection of boxes, ntpd running in Xen Dom0 reproducibly
exhibits extermely high noise/jitter.
Switching back to -default, non-xen kernel ntpd runs with very low jitter/noise.
Question -- how can I ''tame'' ntpd noise & jitter when running in Dom0?
Is the problem a config issue, or a bug?
Already reported this downstream; everybody''s "stumped".
