error bars in lattice xyplot *with groups*
Hi all,
I'm trying to plot error bars in a lattice plot generated with xyplot. Deepayan
Sarkar has provided a very useful solution for simple circumstances
(https://stat.ethz.ch/pipermail/r-help/2005-October/081571.html), yet I am
having trouble getting it to work when the "groups" setting is enabled in
xyplot (i.e. multiple lines). To illustrate this, consider the singer data

adding error bars to lattice plots
Dear R users,
About a year ago Deepayan offered a suggestion to incorporate error bars
into a dotplot using the singer data as an example
<<http://finzi.psych.upenn.edu/R/Rhelp02a/archive/63875.html>>.
When I try to utilize this code with a grouping variable, I get an error
stating that the subscripts argument is missing. I have tried to insert
them in various ways, but cannot

cluster.stats
Dear list,
I just tried to use the function cluster.stat in the package fpc.
I just have a couple of questions about the syntax:
cluster.stats(d,clustering,alt.clustering=NULL,
silhouette=TRUE,G2=FALSE,G3=FALSE)
1) the distance object (d) is an object obtained by the function dist() on
my own original matrix?
2) clustering is the clusters vector as result of one of the many clustering
methods?

pass hash as parameter
Hello,
How can I pass a hash as parameter from a template with url_for?
e.g. : if I have
test = { :a => "a", :b => "b" }
How can I pass that with my request? Is it possible to pass nested
hash''es to?
Right now,
url_for :action => :test, test
doesn''t seem to work.
Thank you,

Failed to join domain: failed to find DC for administrator@XYZ
Hello everyone
I had samba 4.1 working as a member server to a windows 2012 AD in a
test environment for a while now until I had to re-install the windows
server from scratch. I have the new AD setup with the same NETBIOS name
but now I have problems re-joining the samba box to the new AD. It looks
like a DNS issue but I am unable to understand why. After the
ire-install, I got a new Kerberos

access model from controller
Hello,
Rather new to RoR, so I''m not sure about the terminology and such :-/ .
My question is: how could I know the model which is associated to a
controller?
For example:
- controller class is TestController, which is a subclass of
ApplicationController
- associated model class is Test
How could I write some code in a method of ApplicationController to
dermine the current

After library(quantreg), ls("package:quantreg") will list all the names
you currently export. So
cat(ls("package:quantreg"), sep = ", ")
will print the list in a form suitable for including

Those symbols should not be exported. In quantreg v5.33, NAMESPACE has 'exportPattern(".")'. Maybe it is a good time to remove that and export explicitly the symbols that are meant for export.

data corruption in samba 3.4.3 ?
Hello,
I am using Citrix XenServer for my VM environment. I found that If I am using samba 3.4.3 and dump a vm from a Citrix xen node the resulting image is not importable(ie corrupt) into xenCenter. If I am using samba-3.3.9 and perform the same operation everything works great. To dump the vm's from Xen I mount a samba share from the domU OS. I use the following xen commands to dump the

OT: Software for specific visualisation of data...ideas?
Dear List,
A student in the Department where I work would like to produce a graphic
similar to this one:
http://image.guardian.co.uk/sys-files/Guardian/documents/2009/09/16/Public_spending_160909.pdf
Does anyone know if the figure in the pdf can be generated in a specific
software application for example? Any suggestions would be most
gratefully received by the student concerned.
Many thanks,

Error Bars in lattice- barcharts
Hello,
I am attempting to write a script that adds error bars to a barchart. I
basing my attempt heavily on the following thread:

I can't seem to get around the problem that was discussed in the thread. The
following example should illustrate my problem. Sorry about the messy

Samba / LDAP no account in domain

I have swapped from using passwd.tdb to using LDAP, but I just can't get
it to work. User authentication works if I try to access a share from a
locally logged in system, but if I try to login at domain level I get
Domain controller not found and the samba log produces this :

associations question
Hello,
I have a People table and a Addresses table. A person can have one or
more addresses, but should at least have one, so there is a address_id
field in People.
Now, I would like to have a form to fill the name of a new person and
its address from the same place. I could use person.address.country, for
example (it works), but I would like to simply use person.country for
some reasons

xyplot question
I have the code below and it works fine if I print the xyplot but if I
take the print out, then I just get a blank
pdf. The same holds if I just send the plot to the console without the
print ( I get nothing ). My question is whether this is always
the case with xyplot or is there something wrong with my settings ? I am
on linux ( redhat ) and using R.2.5.0. Thanks.

sub- and superscript in plot labels
Dear List,
I need to add a subscript and a superscript to some of the ions in the
labels on some plots.
I have got to here but now I'm stuck:
plot(1:10, xlab = expression(paste("nm SO"[4], " ", mu, "eq cm"^{-2}, "
yr"^{-1})))
Which gives almost what I require. No matter what I tried, however, I
could not get bot a sub script *and* a superscript
