small window manager
What is an alternative X window manager, supported by CentOS,
that has very small memory footprint?
I want to avoid twm, because it defaults to interactive placement when
not giving geometry options. No other requirements.

gnome-desktop on Centos-6.3
I have installed a minimal kvm host system. I wish to provide a
graphical login on the host. To this end I performed the following
group installs:
yum groupinstall "general purpose desktop" "x windows system"
I can login on the host system as root and then run 'startx' which
gives me a desktop, sort of. The top menu bar with the various tool

How to run X windows in the guest OS
With the RHEL guest and 'startx', the vnc displays a partial xterm. I suspect more is needed to redirect the graphics.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Minimize a plot window
Is it possible to start a X11() device in a minimized state? I have many
windows, each with useful data, which clutter the screen. Having each
window minimize upon creation would help.

Default X manager
Hi,
I've installed XFCE via yumgroup without problem.
If I boot in runlevel 3 and run X with startxfce4 command all works ok
too, but if If I start the system in runlevel 5, it seems the X default
X manager is always twm.
?How can I setup the default X manager?
TIA.

vncserver does not start gnome-sessioin automatically
I installed RHEL 5.8 x86_64 today. To my surprise, when I connect it using
vnc viewer it does not start gnome-session automatically.
The last line in .vnc/xstartup is twm&
Before I removed RHEL 6.1 a few days ago, vncserver always starts
gnome-session every time I open vncviewer.
Is that related to RHEL version or vnc-server version?
Best Regards,
Yawei

[fdo] Xinit without option set string no in xinitirc
HI
I am very new on Xorg and X11 technology, but I think there is a
problem with the xinit system, here is the story :
When I compiled the xinit from the source code with these options on
the configure:
./configure --without-twm --without-xclock --without-xterm
Everything works fine , but at the end the file xinitrc in

...t by using VNC. And, although I''ve managed to start the
x-server, it is all done manually.
I.e. start the Linux guest, log in, start the vncserver on the guest, run a
vncclient from the host connecting to the guest, then start the x-server by
calling /etc/X11/xinit/./Xclients from within twm.
One of the outcomes of doing all this is that the x-server starts its panels
(e.g. launcher menu) on separate windows within the twm started via
vncclient.
My questions are:
1. Is it possible to start a linux guest at runlevel 5 directly via an ''xm
