tweek startup and logon
Dear All, CentOs 6 is great, but I would like to get back 2 things from 5.6 : how can I always see the text lines during startup? (so no graphical screen ) how can I *not *see all the users on the system when loging on? (so that users also have to remember their username) thanks for any advise. IO lockups and ext3 readonly filecorruption on RHEL4 (pre and post U4)
...stro with a non-RH kernel. Just the ext3 problem (minus the IO lockup part) can be seen in other BZ tickets: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=175877 (when the filesystem fills up) Has anyone seen these type of IO lockups + ext3 corruption on RHEL4? Can you reproduce it? Tweeks

No file system full message
Hello, I am fairly new to RH Linux but very experienced in unix. I am trying to generate a file system full message when I fill up an ext3 file system. Once the file system fills up I am expecting a message like File System xxxx full. but I do not get this or any message. I have modified the lvm.conf to send to syslog and set the messages to as verbose as I can. I get lvm mesages in the file but

file diff?
Hello... I am looking to replace my current config file management solution with puppet. I looked at both cfengine and puppet and neither seem to have a "diff" option. as in: configfile { "/etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf": source => "/httpd/httpd.conf" } will install a httpd.conf file. What I would like is to be able to see a unified diff of the

optim
Dear R-helpers, The function optim implements algorithms that I would like to use. I have function implemented in R, which given the parameters of which minimization is to take place returns a scalar as well as the gradient. Unfortunately optim requires two function _fn_ and _gr_ where fn returns the function value and gr the gradient. Splitting my function in two functions would be easy,

heatmap on pre-established hclust output?
Hi, Can someone please guide me towards how to produce "heatmap" output from the output of "hclust" run prior to the actual "heatmap" call? I have some rather lengthy clustering going on and tweeking the visual output with "heatmap" recalculating the clustering every time is not feasible. Thanks, Joh

It loaded OK and after copying a few dll's from my windows box, it came up and ran. My problem is with printing. After reading through the users guide on printing and poking around in the archives

[Compile Issue] netcat.c on HP NonStop
Greetings, I am porting the openssh-portable 6.8 release to the HP NonStop (NSE) platform. Prior versions were no real problem, with minor tweeks. However, with the inclusion of regress/netcat.c, which depends on arpa/telnet.h, we have an issue. Unfortunately, the platform does not have this file, nor anything like it - telnet is done rather differently. We do have a version of netcat (0.7.1 a.k.a. "really old") ported. Is there a...

[LLVMdev] X86AsmPrinter + MASM and NASM backends
I have "refactored" the X86AsmPrinter into a number of files ready for the MASM and NASM backends to be added. There is a new namespace llvm::X86 to replace the anomonous namespace as this does not work accross mutiple .h and .cpp files. Other than that everything is pritty straight forward, t may possibly need tweeking though. It has been built under MS VS2003, but I am not sure how

1950's UK rotary dial phone
Folks, I've got one of those GPO 1950's rotary dial phones that I'm trying to get working in the UK. I've got pretty much everything working with my TDM400, the phone rings and I can receive calls but I cannot dial with the rotary dialer. I have set pulsedial=true or whatever the exact setting is and I can dial from the phone by lifting the receiver and tapping out the number on
