tweek startup and logon
Dear All, CentOs 6 is great, but I would like to get back 2 things from 5.6 : how can I always see the text lines during startup? (so no graphical screen ) how can I *not *see all the users on the system when loging on? (so that users also have to remember their username) thanks for any advise. IO lockups and ext3 readonly filecorruption on RHEL4 (pre and post U4)
...stro with a non-RH kernel. Just the ext3 problem (minus the IO lockup part) can be seen in other BZ tickets: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=175877 (when the filesystem fills up) Has anyone seen these type of IO lockups + ext3 corruption on RHEL4? Can you reproduce it? Tweeks

No file system full message
Hello, I am fairly new to RH Linux but very experienced in unix. I am trying to generate a file system full message when I fill up an ext3 file system. Once the file system fills up I am expecting a message like File System xxxx full. but I do not get this or any message. I have modified the lvm.conf to send to syslog and set the messages to as verbose as I can. I get lvm mesages in the file but

file diff?
...=> "/httpd/httpd.conf" } will install a httpd.conf file. What I would like is to be able to see a unified diff of the changes before installation. ala puppet --dry-run --show-diff-u sample situation: /etc/some.conf file is put into the puppet system. /etc/some.conf is tweeked for group:webservers by sysadminW. later (maybe months), /etc/some.conf is tweeked to fix a problem on group:mailservers by sysadminM. sysadminW then runs puppet and gets broken web servers. A dry-run showing file diffs would show what changes will be installed. Any ideas? -- Christopher M...

optim
...gradient. Splitting my function in two functions would be easy, however I am wondering if evaluating both is not doubling the the very high computational costs. Most of the computational intensive operations are identical if computing the function value and gradient. Question: is there a way to tweek optim that only one function evaluation is necessary? Are ther other implementations of the algorithm, which do assume that the function to be minimized returns the function value and the gradient as well? Thanks Eryk.

heatmap on pre-established hclust output?
Hi, Can someone please guide me towards how to produce "heatmap" output from the output of "hclust" run prior to the actual "heatmap" call? I have some rather lengthy clustering going on and tweeking the visual output with "heatmap" recalculating the clustering every time is not feasible. Thanks, Joh

[Compile Issue] netcat.c on HP NonStop
Greetings, I am porting the openssh-portable 6.8 release to the HP NonStop (NSE) platform. Prior versions were no real problem, with minor tweeks. However, with the inclusion of regress/netcat.c, which depends on arpa/telnet.h, we have an issue. Unfortunately, the platform does not have this file, nor anything like it - telnet is done rather differently. We do have a version of netcat (0.7.1 a.k.a. "really old") ported. Is there a...

[LLVMdev] X86AsmPrinter + MASM and NASM backends
...quot; the X86AsmPrinter into a number of files ready for the MASM and NASM backends to be added. There is a new namespace llvm::X86 to replace the anomonous namespace as this does not work accross mutiple .h and .cpp files. Other than that everything is pritty straight forward, t may possibly need tweeking though. It has been built under MS VS2003, but I am not sure how to add it to the makefiles for the Cygwin and Linux platforms, help on this would be appreciated. Afaik there are no specific tests for the X86AsmPrinter. If not it would be good to create some. Also I am wondering about how to...

...eceiver and tapping out the number on the hook. However, using the rotary dialer does not work (works fine plugged into my phone line). I have read about the possibilty that the pulse settings may need adjusting in kernel.h in the dahdi driver but I have no idea what to set them to. I have tried tweeking them to various extents but I've not been able to bring it to life yet. Does anyone have any experience getting this to work? Does anyone know the specs for UK pulse dial? How long should the pulses be and what is the gap between them? Thanks, Mike. -------------- next part -------------...
