Trouble Printing from Win2K machine to Linux Box running RH8.0
Good evening:
I am running RedHat Linux 8.0 on a box that has my Epson Stylus Color
777 printer attached to it. The printer works fine from all
applications on my Linux box using a driver I picked up from TurboPrint.
I have downloaded and installed Samba 2.7.2 and am trying to print from
a Windows 2000 box to this Linux machine. The problem is that when I
print, the document seems to queue up on the windows machine, but
doesn't actually make it to the queue on the linux machine.
Below is my smb.conf fil...

Samba/Cups issues across a network
...erver
on a central Linux system in my home SOHO network. The network is
configured as a simple workgroup with all peer to peer connections.
There is no domain controller. On this network I have a printer attached
to a Win2K machine.
The Cups server is require so as to use a special driver from TurboPrint
for processing and preparing files for printing. Most of the Samba
server seems to be set up correctly in that I am able to access shared
files from other computers on my network. The only part which is not
working is the ability to send files to the Samba server, from other
computers on my ne...

using windows-printer-drivers with wine ?
...ultimately poor
support for linux i'll never by a Canon-product again. Unfortunately i
bought this one before i abandoned my windows and now i'm stuck with
some average drivers of my Fedora linux (FC5). No nozzle
check/alignment, no printhead cleaning and bad color-setup/correction.
I tried turboprint.de drivers and are they much better, but i won't pay
30? just for a printing-driver.
Canons windows-drivers are very good. So here's my question: Is it
possible to use wine with windows-printer-drivers ? And if it is, has
anybody tried it with a Canon-printer ?
Thx,
Juve

Canon MX870
Hello listmates,
I am considering getting this multi-functional printer
(printer/scanner/fax):

Has anybody used it under Linux? What was that experience like?
Thanks.
Boris.

College student printer for CentOS 5.4 x86_64?
Oldest son came back from college and wants a printer for his Dell
laptop. I built it with CentOS 5.3 x86_64 several months ago and will
upgrade it to 5.4
The Cannon printer he now has (bought with the laptop and Vista through
the university book store), doesn't seem to have linux drivers. I built
the machine with Vista and CentOS in dual-boot, so he could manage his
iTunes and use the

The scariest set up of all: Printer Support
...t any message to say for sure if it
had installed successfully. I tried to print from a number of
application, but nothing happened. Just nothing. No error messages, no
printer noises, nothing.
So, I figured the driver didn't take hold.
I looked around the net, and first I cam across "Turboprint for Linux".
At first it seemed promising. But my first snag was that after
installing the RPM, I didn't seem to have any printer configuration
dialogues or anything. I went on the net to see about a manual, and
*then* I discovered that in the free, consumer use version, they stamp a

What am I missing here?!
OK, I've tried changing my printcap name from printcap to cups. Printing
works fine locally using CUPS on the Samba box. What am I missing here? Why
can't I print to the Samba box via the Windows and linux clients? Shared
directories work fine. I am really frustrated here and have exhausted Google
and all other resources I have. Here's my smb.conf for what it's worth.

Help installing application
Hello! I hope I am sending this to the right spot. Forgive me if I am
not. I am trying to install an application using Wine version 0.9.40. My
installer runs but then it tells me that there is only 1 mb on C: to
install. The terminal reports the following:
fixme:font:SetMapperFlags (0xf970, .......... and more similar output and
then fix me: win: UnregisterDeviceNotification
