virsh migrate --copy-storage-inc
Hello, I use libvirt on machines without shared storage. My VM's have all one qcow2-disk, with the same name as the VM. When I want to migrate a VM, I check if there is an qcow2 image on the other host with that name. When that's not the case, I copy the image using rsync first. If the image excist, I don't do that, and I think that "--copy-storage-inc" will do it. But I

If used with --tunelled you can only use it if you wish to migrate ALL disks in such a VM and need to pre-create the correct files. samba WINS problem on 2 networked LANS using a VPN connection
...2=192.168.1.64 network and 192.168.1.95 broadcast) I have bidirectional ping between to/from any station located in my LANS. All stations from LAN1 and LAN2 are WindowsXP(SP2) and has firewall disabled. Booth Routers (A and B - RHEL 3.0) has samba installed and Router A is used as VPN server (tunel address 10.1.0.1) and RouterB is used as VPN client (tunel address 10.1.0.2). Here comes my smb.conf file from RouterA which i want to be used as WINS server by all my windows clients: [global] workgroup = LAN1 netbios name = router-LAN1 server string = Samba interfaces = 192.168.1.49/28 192...

Degraded performance when using GRE over tinc
Hi, In a setup where OpenVSwitch is used with GRE tunels on top of an interface provided by tinc, I'm experiencing significant performance degradation problems (from 100Mb/s down to 1Mb/s in the worst case) and I'm not sure how to fix this. The manifestation of the problem is, from the user point of view, iperf reports ~100Mb/s and rsync reports...

Letting linux be the router, allowing dynamic routes, suggestion
...tap src 10.255.255.1 192.168.0.0/16 via 10.255.255.2 10.2.3.0/24 via 10.255.255.3 ... This requires some fairly simple processing: L2 packets coming from the kernel (filled with the SRC MAC address from the interface and DST MAC address resolved with ARP), using the DST MAC address to know which tunel to send to. L3 packets coming from the tunel would be expanded into a L2 packet (with the SRC MAC = the tunel virtual MAC Address, DST MAC = local interface MAC address, and ether type = ipv4 or ipv6) Doing something like this would transform tinc from a canned limited use software into an extre...

What does the socks function of openssh hide?
Salutations, I was recently using openssh 6.8p1-3 for socks tunelling with a public wifi hotspot. I attempted to watch youtube but was notified that it was not allowed in my area. The socks server I was connected to definitely had the ability to connect to youtube, so I concluded the issue was with the public wifi hotspot. How much does socks tunneling with o...

MTU issue when using GRE over tinc
[Disclaimer : I'm not a network engineer] Hi, In a setup where OpenVSwitch is used with GRE tunels on top of an interface provided by tinc, I'm experiencing MTU problems and I'm not sure how to fix them. The manifestation of the problem is, from the user point of view, communication hang. And using "tcpdump -i there" displays lines such as : 18:54:00.345666 IP 10.111.1.1...

The migration of storage using the qemu migration stream is not supported by qemu when -blockdev is used. Since we can only transport one stream when migrating with '-tunelled', it's no longer possible to combine those two. Squid updates break tunneling
This is a question I posted to the RHEL3 mailing list but didn't get a response: "We are currently running squid-2.5.STABLE3-6.3E.9 on one of our RHEL3 proxy servers because updating to the latest (squid-2.5.STABLE3-6.3E.14) seems to break any kind of tunelling, ie. things like instant messaging ports and ssh using proxytunnel (http://proxytunnel.sourceforge.net/). Has anyone else experienced this problem with the Squid updates from RHN?" I was wondering if anyone running Centos has any advice/info on this? -- Tim Edwards

ADSL with PPP failover
...ny HOW-TO type documentation. I am administering a site with a remote location connected primarily via a cipe tunnel over a SHDSL connection. We also have a direct PSTN connection between the sites. Seeing as phone calls here are not timed I plan to keep the PSTN connection alive even when the cipe tunel is active. I am looking for information as to the best way to set up this network, so that if the cipe connection goes down all traffic is automatically routed over the ppp connection, and when the cipe connection comes back up the traffic is once again routed via the cipe connection. We currently...
