please help: problems using 'force group' option
hi all, I have a linux box running redhat 8.0 with samba 2.2.7 into a ms network I would like to control the access to the shared files, so only allowed groups of users can modify/create files I use 'force group' option to ensure that created files has the same owner group so all users of that group can modify these files (but not others users not belonging to that group) my

Multiple Groups, Different Permissions problem
Hello everyone, I need to setup some directories (in RHL 7.2 running Samba 2.2.3a w/ W2K PDC) to allow multiple groups, each of which has different permissions. If this can be done on the Linux side, this would be preferred, but if it has to be done in Samba, any help in understanding how to make this happen is appreciated. I know Windows NT/W2K allows multiple groups and I would think Linux

extending prototype''s classes
Hi, I''m relatively new to javascript programming, and OOP in general, so please be nice to me ;) My question is: I''d like to extend the Form class in prototype to have a Disable function that will disable all of the fields in a form. I''ve already written a function to do this, but I''d like to include it in my own library so I can access it easily and also

Observing changes to a text field
I''ve noticed that using several TimedObservers (prototype.js) on a page to watch for changes to text fields (haven''t tried forms) can have a non-negligible effect on the CPU cycles used by the browser process. Nothing dramatic, to be sure, but unnecessary. Autocompleter.Base (controls.js) follows a smarter strategy to watch for changes. Currently this functionality is tied

Autocompletion not working in Konqueror
I''ve just had a look again at the autocompletion demo that Thomas put up at http://script.aculo.us/demos/ajax/autocompleter Unfortunately, in Konqueror (3.4.1) it doesn''t work at all. Not even an error is triggered. It does work nicely in Firefox. How about Safari? I don''t have the time right now to track this down systematically (maybe latter), but just from

boot fails on some system
I used syslinux to make an external usb hard drive booting up "system rescue cd" from a FAT primary partition. The procedure I followed was setting on the boot flag on the FAT partition and copying the content of the iso image to it and renaming isolinux to syslinux wherever needed. I then unmounted the device and ran "syslinux -d /syslinux/ -i /dev/sdxn" where sdxn is the

Enumerations (again): Comments please
Some of my earlier questions may have hinted ever so slightly in the direction that I''m trying to implement "enumerations". By an enumeration here I mean a class that has a fixed number of immutable instances, which in turn have essentially only a name and a position. Requirements I''ve tried to meet are - Enumeration instances should only be loaded once from the

table sorting/manipulation library?
I have a library I''ve developed that I believe is the most flexible and useful table sorting/striping/row-selecting library around. Big features: Single and multiple-level sort Arbitrary sort criteria (IP address, date, etc.) Works with table headers that are > 1 row or column large Stripe tables and/or enable row selecting Row selecting supports drag-select and SHIFT-click No extra

addind imap support to rsync
when seeking for syncing two imap maildir folders one has the choice among many programs such as imapsync, isync, offlineimap ... But all of these provide individually only a few options. For example syncing a folder by only appending unexisting files, i.e. without deleting anything seem to be supported by no one real imap syncing software stable release. Here "real syncing" means a
