Dreaded Internal 500 Error on DreamHost.
...to the latest version of the db, and set all of the necessary directories to 755. But when I run dispatch.rb in ssh or access the site from a web browser it returns an Internal 500 error. I have no errors in my logs. Any ideas? ---------------------------------------- Jim Jeffers "A trustworthy individual." www.DontTrustThisGuy.com (480) 235-5201

[PATCH 1/1] virtio: rng: add derating factor for use by hwrng core
...s started when a hwrng device of sufficient quality is registered. The virtio-rng device is backed by the hypervisor, and we trust the hypervisor to provide real entropy. A malicious hypervisor is a scenario that's ruled out, so we are certain the quality of randomness we receive is perfectly trustworthy. Hence, we use 100% for the factor, indicating maximum confidence in the source. Signed-off-by: Amit Shah <amit.shah at redhat.com> --- Pretty small and contained patch; would be great if it is picked up for 3.17. --- drivers/char/hw_random/virtio-rng.c | 1 + 1 file changed, 1 insertion(...

ipfw core dump
Hi, This is the first time I've come across this: pid 11415 (ipfw), uid 0: exited on signal 11 (core dumped) The core dump landed in root's home directory in one of my jails. Has anyone seen this before? Should I be concerned? chkrootkit says nothing. (How trustworthy is its output? ;-) Thanks. recent ruby packages?
Does anyone know of a repository that's *trustworthy* (gotta worry 'bout malware) with newer ruby rpm's than RHEL has? OT: the more I deal with ruby, the less I like it. Someone here was ready to move to a newer version, and from the ruby.org website, they're apparently actively hostile to all RH-related distros, even though we're th...

[LLVMdev] inlining hint
...ether neither should matter and the inliner should just look at the structure and size of the code, ignoring both syntactic and semantic inline hints (But still listening to always and noinline attributes of course). To me personally, I have a hard time believing that either hint is really trustworthy and would rather invest effort into seeing how far we can get with #3. My reason for thinking this is twofold: first, many people slap the inline keyword on stuff without really thinking about how big the code will be. In the case of C++, because of abstraction and other things, the code...

R CMD check with Matlab and perl?
...work in that context. Second, I have professional colleagues who write code in Matlab and perl, but have no unit or regression testing. If I could test Matlab and perl from within "R CMD check" examples, I think I could get them to use it, because it would produce more "trustworthy software" [the "Prime Directive" of Chambers (2008) Software for Data Analysis (Springer)] AND give them documentation at the same time -- while simultaneously reducing the cost of producing and maintaining code to given specifications. Thanks, Spencer

e2fsck discrepancies
...Pass 2: Checking directory structure Pass 3: Checking directory connectivity Pass 4: Checking reference counts Pass 5: Checking group summary information /dev/sdb1: 32028520/536870912 files (0.5% non-contiguous), 802465197/2147460933 blocks Does this mean that read-only checks are generally not trustworthy, even the statement that the filesystem has errors? Or something like Read-only reports clean: fine Read-only reports error: not necessarily really an error Thanks and regards, Roland

...e the file attached > there have been some changes between 3.6.3 > and 4.3.11. Talking of which, is there any way that you can upgrade > Samba ? 4.3.11 is EOL as far as Samba is concerned. I'd prefer keeping the version provided with the distro, but I'll check if there's some trustworthy PPA to get something a bit newer. The strange thing, is that the script is not even called at all. -- Daniel Berteaud FIREWALL-SERVICES SAS. is a self signed certificate always invalid the first time?
...the day DigiNotar fell. Since that day everybody should be aware that the true problem of a certificate is not its issuer, but the "trusted" third party CA. This could have been known way before of course by simply thinking about the basics. Do you really think your certificate gets more trustworthy because some guys from South Africa (just an example) say it is correct, running a _business_? Honestly, that is just naive. It would be far better to use a self-signed certificate that can be checked through some instance/host set inside your domain. Because only then the only one being responsibl...

VPN suggestions centos 6, 7
...s a two-step process." OpenVPN tunnels traffic through a user space process, just like l2tp/ipsec does, and in my experience offers no better performance. If throughput is your main concern, use IPsec without l2tp. "because it can be configured to use AES encryption, is arguably more trustworthy than L2TP/IPsec." IPSec can also use AES as a cipher and provide PFS, for that matter.

Difference between "depends on" and "import"
...ges description, two fields are existing : "depends on" and "imports" . Where could I find the definition/difference between these two notions ? This question seems rather stupid, but I have very restricted Internet access ("only" during week ends and holy-days) and a trustworthy IT link would be less misleading than google search and errors. Thanks in advance. D. Brion

Video drivers, bittorrent and Centos 5?
...rk it, but there was one web site that provided the exact working solution. From then on, my video support worked flawlessly. Now, with CentOS 5 coming out, what support will there be for this type of card? My installation came from a bittorrent DVD. The problem I have with this method is how trustworthy seeded sites are for the download? If I am downloading 4, 5, or 6 CDs from a .gov, .mil, or .edu site, I feel it will be much more trustworthy. Granted, I could also outright pay for media from the CentOS organization. If someone can convince me that bittorrent is a 100% safe way to retrieve a...
