optimize function with integral form ?
Hi all,
Does anybody have the experience of using optim to estimate variables with integral forms?
here the code:
trun.mean<- function(x) # t is the threshold
{
mu=x[1];
sigma=x[2];
t=x[3];
f <- function(x) (1/(sigma*sqrt(2*pi)))*exp(-(x-mu)^2/(2*sigma^2));
pdf.fun <- function(x) x*f(x);
integrate(f,thre,upper=Inf)$value/integrate(pdf.fun,thre,upper=Inf)$value ;
}

Improving effeciency - better table()?
Hi,
I've been running some simulations for a while and the performance of R
has been great. However, I've recently changed the code to perform a sort
of chi-square goodness-of-fit test. To get the observed values for each
cell I've been using table() - specifically I've been using cut2 from
Hmisc to divide up the range into a specified number of cells and then

--csum-length ?!

By default the primary checksum used in rsync is a very strong
16 byte MD4 checksum. In most cases you will find that a trun-
cated version of this checksum is quite efficient, and this will
decrease the size of the checksum data sent over the link, mak-
ing things faster.

Two FXOs getting bridged?
Hey all, I've been seeing this repeatedly and am wondering if anyone has a clue what's causing it.. at least once a day I see two zap fxo channels being bridged, and hanging..now, these two channels should never bridge, but they keep doing it.. any leads on where to look for what's causing it? here's what I see when I 'show channels'

Compiler used to build LLVM
Hello,
We’d like to keep track of which clang version was used to build our LLVM binaries. We use cmake and ninja with clang to build. What do you people think would be the cleanest way to know which version of clang is used, on a user’s machine, to build those binaries. I’m hoping to script this. I was thinking that getting cmake/ninja to spit out this information, if possible, would probably be

I need storage server advice
Hi:
I need advice on implementing a storage server. I really do not have
the $ to spend for a Dell iSCSI storage divice and I am thinking
trunning CentOS 5.x with ftp or FreeNAS. Here is what I am looking at
and concerned about.
Situation:
My current storage needs are approximately 1.5 TB annually. This will
increase to about 3.5 TB annually over the next 5 years (rough est.).
This box will just be a data archive and once it is full it...

Codec Selection
Hi,
I have 2 g729 licences - what I want to do is use g729 by default but if
I get more than 2 calls at a time, use gsm for the others.
So, I put this on all my sip providers:
disallow=all
allow=g729
allow=gsm
However, this just seems to use gsm for everything. If I comment out the
gsm line, it then uses g729.
I thought it would use the codec's in the order they are allowed - is

XEN and NTP
...XEN?
AFAIK, the NTP server is dependent on a reasonably accurate interrupt
clock. I have a DCF77 receiver connected to the serial port that
sends time information, which is read by an NTP server which all other
machines in the network synchronize to. I am considering putting XEN
onto the machine trunning the NTP server but would like to hear about
experiences cone=cerning performance and accurary.

parameter estimation -- Censored mean to real mean
Hi List,
Is there anyway to estimate the parameters with integral forms?
Here is the function. The idea is to calculate the real mean from the censored mean given normal distribution.
I have the function as
trun.mean<- function(mu,sigma,t) # t is the threshold
{
f <- function(x) (1/(sigma*sqrt(2*pi)))*exp(-(x-mu)^2/(2*sigma^2));
pdf.fun <- function(x) x*f(x);

gamlss for censored and truncated distributions
Dear R Help,
I'd like to be able to use gamlss to generate distributions that are
both truncated and have censoring. It doesn't look as though it is
possible to do this at the moment:
> gen.trun(par=c(0),family="NO",name="tr",type="left")
A truncated family of distributions from NO has been generated
and saved under the names:
dNOtr pNOtr qNOtr rNOtr
