hey, I'd hang up, too. I don't trust in-place partition shrinking, no
matter WHAT the software.
my preferred method of resizing NTFS is to use Acronis TrueImage or
another similar backup tool to make a complete file system image of the
partitions of the disk onto external media, then repartition the disk
and restore that image to new smaller partitions. If anything goes
wrong like a system crash, power fail, etc during the first step,

SCSI install to IDE install - help
...(some accounting
stuff).
Due to the SCSI disk going bad we must tranfer the installation to some
other disks. SCSI disks are very difficult to find here and must be ordered
(and wait about 45 days to arrive at the dealer).
Can I clone the SCSI disk to a IDE Disk with a clone utility such as Acronis
TrueImage and then rebuild the boot loader?
The SCSI is 72gb with the bootloader, one swap partition and the second
partition is /
The customer will maintain the exactly same server, we will only change the
storage media.

That's not been my experience... gparted does use ntfs-3g to work on NTFS
partitions (what linux-based tool doesn't?), but does not by default set

Existing windows server to XEN howto?
I would like to move an existing W2K3 install onto my new super duper
xen box -- Installing linux based machine is no issue, it''s the windows
ones that keep getting me. I have Acronis which we usually use for bare
metal restores, and it seems that bare metal restores don''t want to work
too well with XEN, any assistance/help/ideas ?

[Slightly OT] Data Preservation
HI All,
So I have 5 1U servers (running Windows) that have Ultra 320 SCSI
Drives in them.
The owner of these boxes wants the drives captured in their current
states to .iso or .cdr or something where if the need arises the data
can be viewed, used again, etc.
So what is the best approach? Boot from a Live CD, hook up a USB
external HD and do what? Can I create a .iso or .cdr (or some

I have tried hard to boot the same off "USB" using "Syslinux" but NOT
successful.
Every time I get the following error messages or similar to them. (i)Could
not find kernel image: linux or (ii)missing parameters in "syslinux.cfg".
