Strange behaviour with rsync and mounted truecrypt volume
Hello,
when i mount a truecrpyt volume with truecrypt 5.1a and
synchronize data locally with rsync (version 2.6.9 protocol version 29) like this way:
$ truecrypt myvolume.tc
$ rsync -av /home/oliver/myfolder /media/truecrypt
The myfolder is copied to /media/truecrypt like it should.
But when i dismount the truecrypt volume
and mount it again:

truecrypt & kernel 2.6.24
Hi all,
Has anyone used TrueCrypt on a XEN based machine before? I'm running
CentOS 5.3 with kernel 2.6.18 but when I launch TrueCrypt, it keeps on
telling me I need kernel 2.6.24 or later.

truecrypt on synology as subfolder
Just a small question.
==============
I was really just meaning to ask whether there are issues with running
truecrypt inside a samba share.
My system had never had any issues but now I was writing to a folder
that is a truecrypt mount inside a samba share and the smbd process
writing into it blocked or is still "D" waiting for IO and I cannot kill
it.
So the question was whether there are issues wit...

TrueCrypt WD External Drive
I have a WD Elements 2TB USB hard drive. I would like to
encrypt the whole drive with TrueCrypt on my CentOS box.
Could someone direct me to a tutorial on how to do this?
Ideally, I would also like to access it with my WinXP box,
but this part is optional.
Thanks for your help.
Mike.

Rsync Truecrypt
I have seen people say both that rsync can efficiently copy truecrypt
volumes. I got it working once with deltacopy but as I'm trying to get it
to work from the command line, I cannot. It just transfers the whole file.
I am using -rvs -inplace switches. Does anybody have any suggestions?

Before I had issues on some device using TrueCrypt because the entire
thing would hang (mostly SMBD, then) when I read or actually wrote files
to a truecrypt volume mounted inside of another filesystem, so that smbd
would have to cross a filesystem boundary.
I never tested...

Software Protection on centos
Hi,
I would like to have a software protection for my hardisk. I have some
query regarding that
(1) In Centos, is it possible to do a hardisk protection. Ex : Even if the
hardisk is taken from a PC and
used on another PC, it should not be executable.
(2) Also if the entire binary of the source is mounted on a partition say
/tmp, is it possible
to make that mount point as protected,

[How-To?] Using Syslinux AltMBR + TrueCrypt System Encryption (RFE: swap drive ID's)
Just achieved success using syslinux to multi-OS boot, including a WinXP
System (boot) partition that's been encrypted with TrueCrypt (TC).
You'll need syslinux version 3.81-pre13 or newer to get a working
altmbr.bin file. I used:
http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/utils/boot/syslinux/Testing/syslinux-3.81-pre13.zip
Background:
I started with a 'normal' multi-OS boot setup as follows:
MBR - syslinux

Checksum filter rule
Hello,
I'm using rsync to make backups. In my dataset, however, there are a few
encrypted Truecrypt volumes. When these files are modified, the content
changes but the timestamps are not updated. Thus, rsync will not sync
these files by default. I would like to keep the behavior of Truecrypt
and have rsync update the files correctly.
Using the --checksum option comes to mind in this case. Howe...

I have no other smbd logs other than output that says that some
parameter (wide symlinks) is unknown. There is nothing else in there.
The previous error (with Truecrypt) was found in some logs though.
Basically umount is trying to kill the process, but it is unkillable:

"/usr/syno/sbin/smbd" with /store/home/xen.

CentOS 5.3 Xen installation trouble installing FUSE
Hi,
I've got CentOS 5.3 installed as a Xen client installed. I've recently been
trying to install TrueCrypt on the VM, but am having miserable troubles with
the Fuse kernel module.
To date, I've installed the following packages:
yum install truecrypt
yum install fuse
However, to launch the fuse module, I need the dkms_autoinstaller running.
However, when I try to start the dkms_autoinstaller serv...

File Lock Issue
Hi All,
I've seen a few messages similar to my problem, looking back through the
mailing list but the issue I'm having is a little more unique.
We have a user, who uses both wireless and wired connection. He uses
truecrypt, that has the encrypted file sitting on a samba share. What I
think is happening is he will unplugged his wired connection and move to
a meeting room and connect through the wireless (might be worth noting -
our wireless sits in our DMZ and users have to VPN into the inside of
our network). W...

how to access encrypted EXT3 partition from Windows
Hi all,
I know some may find this OT, so please ignore this if you think it's
OT. I don't know any Linux-friendly Windows mailing lists / forums
that will even bother with Linux related questions.
I want to carry some data (client info, documents, photos, email,
accounting stuff, etc) with me on a USB HDD, but want to encrypt it. I
know one easy way to shared data between Windows &
