Issue with libvirtd service and virsh on Debian 13 "trixie" (testing)
Hi,
I just upgraded to Debian 13 and observing an issue related to libvirtd
service. It happens during up time, the service is initially ?running
and all is working fine.?I can run virt-manager and use VMs. Then close
virt-manager.
After some time (5min), here is what happens :
- virt-manager keeps on "Connecting... " when launching it.
- "sudo virsh net-list --all" command

I cannot get Chrony to work with MS-SNTP from a Windows client, now
this could be a Samba problem, but I cannot test the probably fixed
ntpsec, because the 'fix' is only available for the version of ntpsec
in Trixie and I do not have a 'Trixie' DC and I am not willing to add
one running a testing version of an OS. Anyone know the procedure to
ask for a package to be backported ?

Debian openssh option review: considering splitting out GSS-API key exchange
...still in use. So, if I decide to split
it back out, I'd want to arrange for a somewhat graceful transition.
We've had it for nearly 20 years now, so we can take the time to do a
proper job that at least tries not to leave users in the lurch.
How does this rough plan sound?
* for Debian trixie (current testing):
* add dependency-only packages called something like
openssh-client-gsskex and openssh-server-gsskex, depending on their
non-gsskex alternatives
* add NEWS.Debian entry saying that people need to install these
packages if they want to retain GSS-API key exch...

new DC via clone..
Hello Rowland,
I have to recognize that asking to compile the distro version is a valid argument.
Hello Michael,
can you please explain, how I can compile Samba as I am using your distro (deb [signed-by=/etc/apt/mjt.key] http://www.corpit.ru/mjt/packages/samba jammy/samba-4.19/)?
Thanks,
Joachim

[PATCH] allow indefinite ForwardX11Timeout by setting it to 0
...ed X11 forwarding (which is more
secure) without
requiring users to choose a finite timeout after which to refuse new
connections.
This matches the semantics of the X11 security extension itself, which
also treat a
validity timeout of 0 on an authentication cookie as indefinite.

Bug#1080837: Missing Build-Depends on python3-setuptools
Source: xen
Version: 4.17.3+36-g54dacb5c02-1
Severity: important
User: debian-python at lists.debian.org
Usertags: dh-python-no-setuptools
Tags: sid, trixie
This package failed build from source when test-built against a version of
dh-python without a python3-setuptools dependency.
distutils is no longer part of the Python standard library, since 3.12. But a
minimal version of it becomes available when the python3-setuptools package is
installed.

Concerns about failed tests in build from git source on Debian Gnu/Linux
Debian 12 (aka Bookworm) still has an x86-32 build; however, they
stopped building 32-bit kernels at 6.10.x in "testing" (Trixie).? On
their "testing" download page
<https://www.debian.org/devel/debian-installer/>, there is no longer an
i386 option listed.
The link below is a good explanation of Debian's plans going forward.

As of 03/10/24, ntpsec (version 1.2.3+dfsg1-1) is fixed in Debian
Trixie; I can't speak for Fedora.

You're mistaken upstream version changes and stable debian releases here.
Once debian release becomes stable (like bookworm now), no significant
package changes (including upstream changes) supposed to happen in it.
During the testing phase (debian trixie at this time), on the other hand,
packages are okay to change, including having significant changes in
packaging and upstream version changes too.
Debian backports always "tracks" testing, - I mean, each package in
backports is a backport from testing in a hope it will be useful. Samba...
