No --no-latex?
Hi, Having finally gotten around to installing R-2.9.0, I find that while the docs still say I can invoke the --no-latex option, R CMD INSTALL has decided that I can't. Nor is there any notice of this that I can find in the 2.9 series news. Is this just a trifling oversight that will be repaired? Jim

libRlapack.so not found
Whenever I try to load the Matrix package, I get the following error message: libRlapack.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory A file with that name is indeed not on the hard disk. Text wrapping in R
I am about to give an introduction to R to some clinical data managers used to SAS. There is already a lot of material in printed form and on the web that paves the way. What I haven't found so far are text wrapping capabilities in setting tables in raw text as in SAS PROC REPORT. Hypertext links in help files.
...ot to ../../stat/html/glm.html as it should. But when I re-installed spatstat using R 1.9.0, nothing changed in this regard. I presume I could fix things by completely removing the directory containiny the installed version of spatstat and then re-installing again under R 1.9.0. But this seems a trifle indelicate. Is there a more graceful way of handling this problem? Or is there something that I should have done which would have kept this problem from arising? regular expression question
I have strings of the form TICKER.GGG.XXXXXX.dat but GGG is not always three characters so I can't use substr to pull it out of the string. Could someone tell me how to use sub to pull out the GGG but more generally the string between the dot after the R in TICKER and the next dot. I still don't have a very good understanding of regular expressions but I'm trying to get that

Hey, I am having trouble graphing the following function √2Γ(n/2)/[√n − 1Γ((n − 1)/2 for the values of n between 2 and 50. i know that Γ(n) = (n-1)!, which in R is factorial(n-1) When i type that into R, using y <- function(n)..... and then plot(y,2,50), it doesnt give me anything meaningful, in fact, it comes up with a message saying something like "in gamma(n+1) ploted" or
