ApacheDS vs OpenLDAP
Hi all,
Wondering if any of you have thoughts/experiences with ApacheDS?
We've all had trials and tribulations regarding OpenLDAP and while its
basically working pretty well in a master/slave relationship, ApacheDS
claims more robust replication, etc...
Granted I am working with the version bundled with CentOS, I do
understand that the latest OpenLDAP is wayyyyyyy betterrrr :)

Problem with SysLinux but not with LILO
Hi,
I am trying to use two products that use SysLinux and finally realised the
SysLinux is the cause of my woes. I'm trying to use Freesco and IPCop. IPCop
version 1.3 used a different boot loader to 1.4 which uses SysLinux. I have
been through numerous trials and tribulations in trying to get Freesco to
work but eventually gave up and went with IPCop. I kept getting the "Boot
Failed" error message. I went of to use IPCop instead. ICOP ver 1.3 uses
LILO. Now the new version of IPcop (1.4b5) use SysLinux, so I am almost
right back where I started - with the &quo...

Remote Call Center Agents and Asterisk?
...avenues as possible
and trying to setup various test beds and labs if you will to accomplish the
goal of one day rolling out home based remote call center agents.
Look forward to hearing from others about this. Looking to hear of any
success stories, as well not so successful stories. Trials and
tribulations, good and bad experiences and where that left you. I know
others have at the least done exactly what I am doing and have researched
and entertained various ideas regarding this model of home based agents so
hopefully this message can be a catalyst for further disscussion around this
trend.

overiding concatenation of tables by alphabetical order
...vterm (rails would expect one
called cvterm_feature) So it happily responds by generating an error
that the table can''t be found or rather the class,
i wish to have rails recognize the feature_cvterm join table.
Which is the easiest way to do it?
Please forgive my ignorance
( again the tribulations of working with a legacy database.)
Thanks

Seeking Inbound 800# Origination for Unique Prostate Cancer Support Call-In Show
...reliable
IAX2 or SIP inbound 800# traffic. The show is one hour per week. We need
the capability to support 100+ simultaneous callers. Most callers listen
for the entire duration of the show.
We have been working with another provider for the last several months,
however, after many trials and tribulations, they have determined that
their maximum capacity is 15 simultaneous callers. They will remain
anonymous for the time being, as I truly believe that they worked very
hard and to the best of their abilities. However, they were just
technically unable to deliver to our requirements, despite their p...

fixture_file_upload and edge rspec?
Hi all,
I had some specs that were using fixture_file_upload that were
passing just fine. Then I froze edge rails to get some 2.0
functionality, then a I upgraded to trunk rspec to deal with
uninitialized constant ActionView::Helpers::JavaScriptMacrosHelper
After a couple other of tribulations, I have now gotten down to just
a couple of not passing specs, all using the fixture_file_upload.
Here''s an example
it "should be invalid if uploaded file is not an image" do
@image.attributes = valid_image_attributes.merge({:uploaded_data
=> fixture_file_upload(...

Understanding fcntl() error messages
Hey guys,
After many trials and tribulations I have now got some
fairly stable NFS clients serving dovecot-lda and pop3/imap. Over a 9 hour
postal/rabid stress test only saw 5 errors for the 4 servers. Wondering if
anyone can shed a bit more light on what they mean exactly. I have tried to
find "Resource temporarily unavailable" a...

I had been running bootrom 3.0.1 and various versions of the SIP image

The trouble with WINE
To run a DOS program within Windows, one usually has a PIF, program
information file which specifies some options such as window size, close on
exit, fonts, etc. One does not have to edit a dos.config with special items
for every program he want to run.
WINE should have something like this as well. The blank would be generated and
"learned" when the program first run. This file can

CentOS 7.2 Installation - Anaconda Installer Security Policy Configuration
...verall installation. Has anyone here had any success
with using the kickstart file that is installed when "Pre-release Draft
STIG for CentOS Linux 7 Server" profile is selected? The upstream
vendor's security guide doesn't seem to offer much guidance. All
accounts of trials and tribulations are appreciated. My goal is to
install/verify (or as close as I can get to it) a STIG compliant CentOS
7.2 distribution.
Thanks!

AD native mode authentication on OpenSolaris
I am running Samba 3.0.24 on OpenSolaris build 69, x86. I built Kerberos,
LDAP and Samba from source so that I could join an AD domain in native mode.
After many trials and tribulations, I successfully did a 'net ads join'.
Here's the problem:
When a user tries to connect to the Solaris server, I get the following
error in the Samba log for the client machine:
[2007/08/21 16:37:49, 0] auth/auth_domain.c:(246)

Large & busy site, NFS with deliver only servers
Timo / Others,
I have been working on a new installation for a fairly busy site, and after
many weeks of tribulation have come to an architecture Im happy with:
2x Debian (2.6.18) - MXing machines running Postfix / MailScanner /
Dovecot-LDA (A slightly patched RC17 for prettier Quota bounces)
2x Debian (2.6.18) - Mail retrieval machines running Dovecot IMAP/POP3
(Currently RC17)

Conservative "ANOVA tables" in lmer
Dear lmer-ers,
My thanks for all of you who are sharing your trials and tribulations
publicly.
I was hoping to elicit some feedback on my thoughts on denominator
degrees of freedom for F ratios in mixed models. These thoughts and
practices result from my reading of previous postings by Doug Bates
and others.
- I start by assuming that the appropriate denominator degrees l...

RPM support for package installation?
Hello,
Tech question, I hope this has not been addressed before. I searched help
archives and looked for online help but came up empty-handed.
My question is: (short version) Is there a RPM-supported version of
update.packages() for use with updating package libraries on managed
multi-user Linux networks?
Details:
I put in a request for updating the version of R on one of the hosts on my

Regexten
Before I play around with this again in 1.2.1, regexten is still essentially broken, correct?
The misconception seems to be that it allows you to execute a command upon registration from a SIP UA. Even the O'Reilly TFOT book erroneously states that this is what it is for. After reading the developer discussion though, it definitely seems to be broken. Is it fixed yet?
Doug.

CentOS 6.0: panic installing i386 on old Acer Desktop
Well, after much trial and tribulation I got to the point I could nfs
mount the CentOS 6.0 i386 iso image and try an install.
So I stuck in the net install CD (latest from CentOS), mounted the nfs
iso image and gave it several shots.
It goes swimmingly until I click "write disks".
Then there's a kernel panic. This with both the graphic and text mode
installs.
As mentioned,
