Buffer in IceCast
Hi Tom,
You might be right, but I don't get why my existing downloads (I guess they
are on different routes) are not affected. If my ADLS provider is doing some
IP adjustments (btw my IP is static) I expect everything to disconnect, not
only my icecast connection. So I'll monitor my USRobotics logs today and
tomorrow so see if there is something strange.

The three Windows clients played through this period with no interruption. Go figure!
In monitoring this system for a year and a half, I have never seen anything like it.
I don't really expect anybody to be able to explain this, but thought I'd post it just in case.

In any case, knowing the 4:00am magic time lets me know that it had nothing to do with Icecast.

All mount points are normally running the same content, encoder and bit rate.
Is there any downside to this kind of configuration? Additional overhead?
Thanks

Ports required for Icecast
....
Do I need to tell them to open some specific range of ports in order for the system to work? I have already asked for port 22 to be open for an SSH connection for maintenance. But what for the streaming connection?
Thanks for any help.

using ezstream with stdin
I'm having a hard time not getting mp3 data to ezstream via stdin fast
enough. The vb.net application I'm writing, ezstream and icecast are all
running on the same machine (Widows XP). Some where in the process, a
buffer empties out and that results in a drop out when you are
listening. Usually the dropout happens at a song change.
At first I was chunking up the data according to bit

Both the system clock and my other application that launches EZstream were displaying the correct time. Only the Icecast log entries were off. So, where is Icecast getting its time for log entries?

I appreciate your exploring this with me but it is purely academic at this point and I'm probably boring the others.

I'm even further convinced that there was nothing in Icecast that was responsible. It has been incredibly reliable.

Newbie question ... fallback mounts
Attached is my config file. The purpose is to interrupt my regular
stream sith a station (stream) ID once per hour (time synchronized
externally).
I use ezstream to play the pre-recorded stream ID.
I never hear the stream ID while listening to the stream. (There is a
10 second break in the stream once per hour) What am I doing wrong?
Thanks in advance.

Icecast & Shoutcast
Hi,
on my home server I'm using Icecast to stream my music, but a few days ago I
decided to try to increase the number of listeners by using an external
server with a greater band. The problem is that this server is Shoutcast and
after a week I still can't to make Shoutcast relayng from my Icecast2.
Is it actually possible to do this, or am I wasting my time?
thanks very much

However, the technique might be able to be adapted to some other command-line player.
Contact me off-list if you want to know more.
