Updating to Samba-4.6.0 testparm ERROR: Invalid idmap range for domain *!
After updating my test AD DC from samba version 4.5.5 to 4.6.0 and running testparm as asvised, I get the error idmap range not specified for domain '*' ERROR: Invalid idmap range for domain *! After I get trhe dump of the service definitions, I notice that there is a line in the [global] section: idmap config * : backend - tdb However, my smb.conf doesn't contain any such line (as recommended by the Wiki documentation) so where is this coming from, and what to do about it? Thanks, Roy

Analysis with spatstat and Kcross() requires to much memory
...d I am getting a message that R can not allocate enough memory for a vector of 900MB. R seems to be running towards the 2GB limit per process. The dataset is not to big (ca 3000 points) but the mask for the points is extremely irregular (a buffer around roads which have been sampled) and I can do trhe analysis if I use a rectangular mask covering the whole area (which is obviously not correct). My question is: is there a way of splitting the dataset or changing the mask son that I can do the analysis, as I don't want to move to a 64bit computer (if not necessary). Thanks, Rainer My compu...

Test if remote file is actually RSS/XML

I''ve been using feed tools to display the contents of feeds which works perfectly, but i''d like some way to check if a file is a feed/xml. Any pointers in trhe right direction welcome. (I was thinking about opening the remote file, reading the first x bytes and testing for the xml declaration) Thanks -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

multidimensional scaling with long form data
I have a dissimilarity dataset with the form: 1 1 dissimilarity value 1 2 ... 1 3 1 4 2 2 2 3 2 4 ... I would like to do nonmetric multidimensional scaling with this data, but I am having trouble using this format. I would like to either find a function that accepts this format or find a way to easily convert this format to a matrix for use with existing functions. Thanks!

samba and case switching.
Hello, I'm using samba 2.05a on my slackware linux box and have just noticed something very weird. When I copy a file via network neighborhood in 98 to my home directory on the linux box the file is converted to all uppercase. Under windows even though it isn't case sensitive the first letter of each word is capitalized, but when I look at the files under linux they're all in

"password server" not failing over
In my smb.conf, I have 2 servers specified in "password server" E.g. password server = windc01, windc02 windc01 crashed, and Samba did not fail over to the second entry (windc02). Netbios/WINS resolution is correct for both servers. The log entry corresponding to this event was "Connection to lost". Is this expected behavior? smbd -V = Version 3.0.9-1 [global] workgroup

File / Record Locking In Samba
I would like to use Linux as a file and print server for a number of Windows workstations. One use of this is server will be to provide a central repository for an accounting package. I have spoken to the software supplier for the accounting software and whilst they do not know of any issues with this configuration, they have advised they are unsure how Samba manages file/record

network printing
...Fax: (6332)-345-4009 > Web page : http://www.hypertech.com.ph > ------------------------------------------------------------------ > Looks like the X error here is causing the problem, so it's not actually a problem with printing as such. I guess the error's comes about as trhe print dialog box pops up. This might behave better with the current cvs tip of winehq. Huw. Hello, I've tried printing with notepad.exe with success but the same errors still comes out. At least this time it prints unlike with Daceasy where the apps terminates. Please help anybody... th...

The first, we setup to watch the CLI output and the second was to use th...

jitterbuffer
What is the consensus on using the 1.4 jitterbuffer? Do most people enable it? We have a "PSTN" server that has our RBS T1 trunks in a central location, then have clients that connect via SIP to us for access to those trunks. Most of them are just fine, but lately we have a handful that are having latency and jitter issues. I am hesitant to just turn on the jitter buffer in

Deploying to a staging server using Capistrano: how to start up BackgrounDRb?
Hi. I am using BackgrounDRb to process thumbnails and upload to S3 - things are hunky-dory in development (thumbs are generated, these are uploaded to S3, the metadata is saved to trhe DB, and I get a nice status page updated by periodic calls via ask_status), but when I tried to deploy to our staging server and stop/start BackgrounDRb via Capistrano, things blew up - well, not exactly, but when the app tried to hand off the thumbnail generation, I got a "Could not c...

Users losing connection at random
First let me start off by thanking you for your time. I have what I think is a unique problem. Daily on average there are about 67 users that connect to my server. Usually I will get a call from 1 or 2 of them in the morning saying that they cannot log onto the server. The message they keep receiving is that their domain password is incorrect. I have exhausted myself with research and
