Mabe OT? What managed switch is best for VoIP application?
My Trendnet 26 port managed switch gave up on me so I'm shopping for a new switch. I learned the hard way NOT to trust marketing material from anyone so now I'm asking the list: what am I looking for in a managed, VoIP switch? P.S: For those that don't understand WHY I can't trust marketing...

Failing Network card
...ng manuals, man pages, and getting advice from this list I have been able to work my way through difficulties, and at the end, I usually have a better understanding of what 'is going on'. I can only hope this method will work on this problem too. I have been chasing a problem with a pci-e TrendNet(TEG-ECTX) gigabit card. After adding the card to a machine with a new Centos 6.2 install and naming it 'eth4' it works well for 6 to 12 hours and then fails. The failure is characterized by dropping its connection speed from 1000 to 100 while not allowing any data to flow in or out. When...

USB Wireless device for CentOS?
I need to get a wireless device for an upcoming trip (USB is preferable to PCMCIA for a long list of reasons) and I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with or recommendations for such items, particularly which ones work with Linux/CentOS. Right now I'm debating between a reasonably cheap Belkin 54G and a slightly more expensive Netgear 54G. Thanks. mhr

Routers that do not show external IPs...
I have a customer that has a Trendnet TEW-435BRM router which has the bad habit of rewriting all external connections so the Asterisk server only sees the IP address of the router itself. Up to today this has not been a problem since all extensions are on the local network but now they want to have a couple external IP phones (SIP)....

...ure rooms, no audio, nothing fancy, with the > motion package reading the input. I would use tcp/ip network cameras, ideally with PoE to simplify running power to them. plus cat-5 is a lot easier to run than coax or HDMI. I've got one of these, works well enough. https://www.amazon.com/TRENDnet-Megapixel-Resolution-monitoring-TV-IP320PI/dp/B00MUJ69WM I'm not using it, but these should work great with ZoneMinder or most any other video surveillance/recording package. -- john r pierce, recycling bits in santa cruz

Semi-OT: bluetooth conference phone?
All - I've been trying to pick out a bluetooth conference phone that I could use with a softphone along with my asterisk server. I've been looking at the TrendNet TVP-SP4BK. Have any of you used this device or any other bluetooth conference phone? How have your experiences been? Thanks! -Erik -- Erik Anderson http://andersonfam.org

Two nics connected to one switch
We have a webserver that is connected to three different networks. Due to our cabling, we have to run two of those networks over the same physical network. When connecting from OS X and Windows we are occasionally blocked because the client is sending to the wrong interface. Linux clients seem to have no problem at all. I have read the docs and understand that the problems exists because of

There is a way to filter layer2 traffic independet if it is from a bridged iface or not? -- Luciano

OT: hardware: blackmagic video capture cards
Hi, folks, I'm still trying to find a video capture card that won't crash Dell servers, and ran across a Blackmagic BDLKDUO2 DeckLink Duo 2. It claims to support Linux. I'm also seeing, in the few non-Blabkmagic or sales pages I can find, that they like "binary blobs". I also haven't been able to find anything about o/s or library requirements. Has anyone run

Eth1 problem on CentOS-6.3
I am trying to transport a dd image between to hosts over a cross linked gigabit connection. Both hosts have an eth1 configured to a non routable ip addr on a shared network. No other devices exist on this link. When transferring via sftp I received a stall warning. Checking the logs I see this: dmesg | grep eth e1000e 0000:00:19.0: eth0: (PCI Express:2.5GT/s:Width x1) 00:1c:c0:f2:1f:bb

how to enable dom0 and domu share same physical network...
Hi, I have two physical machines connected through a switch in a 192.168.1.* subnet. Dom0''s are assigned static ip addresses 192.168.1.100, 192.168.1.101 respectively. Dom0''s can ping each other. Each physical machine has a domu guest and static address assigned to domu''s are 192.168.1.200, 192.168.1.201 respectively. However domu''s can neither ping each other

Issues with exposing USB serial dongle to guest VM
Hi. I have Centos 7 (updated) running as my host, and I?m using Qemu and KVM, version 2.0.0 and 2.6.0. I have a Trendnet TU-S9 USB serial dongle attached to the host, which uses the Prolific 2303 chipset. I blacklisted the pl2303 driver so the host doesn?t grab the device, and want to expose it to the guest. On the client, I see 2 USB hubs (3.0 and 2.0), and I see 2 USB endpoints (even though 3 are configured). So...
