Input/output error
...a this strange error on bash command line. Running any command on the command line results in " Input/output error". Only way to get back to normal operation is to hard reboot the machine. I suspect this is something to do with my file system. I am using RH7.3 with ext3 file system on IBM Travelstar drives. I use dd to duplicate the drives. The source and the target drives are identical (same make, model) .I am not sure, but I suspect this error message comes up only on the duplicated drives. (I have never seen this message on my desktop which has a different drive). Any pointers on what...

The machine was running for about 250days. I am using IBM Travelstar hard disk. The machine is located in an NEMA box with maybe poor air circulation. Thanks! Rahul

ext3 filesystem corruption
Hi, I've been experiencing intermittent filesystem corruption on a Compaq Armada M700 laptop w/ IBM Travelstar 30GB drives (both the 40GN and 30GN models). This happens mostly under RH 7.2, w/ ext3 filesystems, but I think it's also happened under win98. All seems fine until power-down, power-up, and boot, where the corruption is discovered. Searching these archives, I found that there are known problem...

compaq r4000 32 bit and 64 bit install
Gents, I first installed the 32 bit version (as you might have read) of centos 4.2, after downloading x86_64 the install process/progress is about the same. going VERY slow... The screen for formatting the partitions took a LONG time (3 partitions 10 GIG, 2 GIG swap and 50 GIG). While on that screen and moving the mouse it lagged big time and could not keep up. Anyway just reporting that so far

xen / AOE / vblade
I ran into an interesting/strange issue today. I still don''t understand what happened, but in know what fixed it.
