...a this strange error on bash command line. Running any command on the command line results in " Input/output error". Only way to get back to normal operation is to hard reboot the machine. I suspect this is something to do with my file system. I am using RH7.3 with ext3 file system on IBM Travelstar drives. I use dd to duplicate the drives. The source and the target drives are identical (same make, model) .I am not sure, but I suspect this error message comes up only on the duplicated drives. Hi, I've been experiencing intermittent filesystem corruption on a Compaq Armada M700 laptop w/ IBM Travelstar 30GB drives (both the 40GN and 30GN models). Gents, I first installed the 32 bit version (as you might have read) of centos 4.2, after downloading x86_64 the install process/progress is about the same. going VERY slow... The screen for formatting the partitions took a LONG time (3 partitions 10 GIG, 2 GIG swap and 50 GIG). While on that screen and moving the mouse it lagged big time and could not keep up.
