HTB & Bdw Guarantee
Hello, I have problems setting up HTB. This is my setup : NET 1024/256 ADSL || eth1 Linux Firewall eth0 || LAN 10.a.a.a I want to GUARANTEE for an IP (10.x.y.z) a 800kbit bandwidth for HTTP download. But When 10.x.y.z does no HTTP download, other trafic must get the whole bandwidth, of course. The script I use (see below) is quite the same as presented at (the greeeeat page) :

fedora 19 + libvirt-1.0.5.9 routing problems
Hi, I am an experienced libvirt user on Fedora versions from F15 to F17. I have developped scripts to route trafic from outside on multiple interfaces/multiples IPs to multiple VMs, and back to affect each VM the required external IP address. I have servers with more than hundreds external IPs, and up to 4 VMs, each of them route trafic on different external IPs. I have servers with Fedora

"Multiple Internet Connections" with four interfaces
Hi, I was reading document http://shorewall.net/MultiISP.html#idp3634200. Inspired by the document I was trying to establish the following changes: * one additional interface: COMA_IF * COM[A,B,C]_IF interfaces request IP address via DHCP * all non-RFC 1918 destined trafic is NATed from INT_IF to COMA_IF * all non-RFC 1918 destined trafic from GW is routed via COMB_IF by default * non-RFC 1918

IMQ Stability
Hello all, I have been doing a lot of archive searching over the last week reading posts on IMQ and it''s apparent stability / instability. I have seen a number of posts about it not being maintained as well. Can anyone talk to me about IMQ''s stability in a heavy throughput environment (20 Mbps) and what was causing IMQ to fail if you know. Thanks, Mike

IMQ problems :-(
Hi I have built a custom TMB Mandrake kernel (2.4.22) with IMQ and ESFQ support. I statically compiled both (mistake?) ESFQ is sorted and working fine (I have succesfully patched IPROUTE2). I have got to the stage where I can see the IMQ device as UP with ifconfig. I can use TC to add QDISCs to the IMQ device. However I just cannot sort out IPTABLES to actually redirect packets to the IMQ

New IMQ device implementation supporting device EOS
Hello All Its first time i posting to this mail list :). I have done something (maybe) important. I write new IMQ device driver based from Martin Devera and Patrick McHardy implementation with device EOS support. My current implementation supporting only egress trafic shaping and kernel 2.4.25. For more details, source and examples have look at my page http://hyperfighter.jinak.cz/qos Ill

Load Balancing
Hello, I've been given the task to study what would a good way to load balance SIP trafic. The prospective setup is : - call centers sending outbound SIP trafic (no inbound) from SIP devices (with public fixed IP address), - a couple of outbound SIP trunks to which trafic from call centers is to be forwarded - a load balancing system between call centers and SIP trunks. Load balancing

Incoming trafic shaping (depending on src IP)
Hi there, i''m trying to shape incoming trafic on my linux box. I want it to depend on the source IP adress of the packets (in fact, i got a VPN on an ADSL link and wanted to get at least/max 64Kbit/s for the VPN) So i tried this : tc qdisc add dev ppp0 root handle 1:0 cbq bandwidth 512Kbit avpkt 1000 cell 8 tc class add dev ppp0 parent 1:0 classid 1:1 cbq bandwidth 512Kbit rate

How to use rate limit with marks set on packets with own queue???
Hi After several days testing and studing howtos and docu again ... I want to limit all tcp trafic with the limit module to say one connection per second except some known trafic. (This is because of using p2p progs gets mi crazy which gets my adsl modem down and I share my net with some users and because of encryption of stream l7 does not work ...) As I understand the limit module does work

Route certain trafic via a tinc node that is not directly connected.
Hello List, I have this setup: hosta  <--> hostb  <-->  hostc Hosta and hostc are not directly connected via tinc. But both are conncted via hostb (I called my network tincnet). This works fine I can ssh from hosta to hostc and vice versa without any problems. hostc is in a whitelisted iprange at some service provider. I need hosta to talk to a certain ip (lets call it

ipac/iptables + mrtg accounting
i''ve installed mrtg to make graphics of the trafic from the interfece throw the snmpd, and the same with ipac witch put iptables accounting rules colect them and store, and gets the output, but the "problem" is that ipac graphics are 3 times smaller that the snmpd. Why??? i did catch all the trafic with ipac so no problem here, and i know that ipac/iptables is at level 3, and

RE: LARTC digest, Vol 1 #1558 - 9 msgs
Hi Roy, Strange. "kernel will resend then together with new ones" - this is interesting, since the firewall DOES know how to drop locally generated packets and the kernel doesn''t attempt to retry them. I am not an expert on this, but I think it might be interesting to check how the firewall does this. Another option would be to trick the kernel that the packet has been

passive FTP trafic control
Hi All How to classify packets belonging to a FTP session? Port 21 session is easy. but what about data transfers? Their port numbers (both) are above 1024. I was thinking about ip_conntrack_ftp. Something like: iptables -A FORWARD -p tcp --sport 1024: --dport 1024: \ -m state --state ESTABLISHED,RELATED -j CLASSIFY --set-class X:Y But what if I also have ip_conntrack_irc, for instance.

Problem with trafic shapping and openvpn
I''m using shorewall with openvpn and traffic shaping at all of our offices. I have noticed for a while that occasionally ping times are excessive. Usually this is during overnight off site backups but some times during the day. I have assumed the is was an ISP issue but now I''m suspecting it''s problem with openvpn and traffic shaping. In the test case have 2 sites
