Missing yum-priorities in 5.4?
I am looking for yum-priorities or any info on any changes here for
CentOS 5.4. There is also a forum post for this here:
<https://www.centos.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=22798&forum=37>
Is this missing on purpose? Function merged with another yum package?
Or is it just missing as an oversight?

problem with rebootning on recen centos kernels
hi friends,
maybe you could help me with following problem: We have one SuperMicro dual
xenon machine running Centos 4.3 ia32 version and we have problem with
reboting this machine remotely (command reboot from ssh connection). After
upgrade to kernel versions 2.6.9-42.0.2.ELsmp and 2.6.9-34.0.2.ELsmp the
machine hangs right after the:
md: md0 switched to read-only mode.

Was wondering how the beta 2 was going?
Last I heard was end a january?
Is there a new "projected" date?
I did see the RHEL5 beta 2 was actually available for download
without a subscription.
Thanks, looking forward to playing with CENTOS 5 beta 2.

Managing updates to non-centos packages
Hi,
I'm looking for some documentation (or advice) on how to best manage
a -mostly- upstream binary compatible CentOS installation.
I enabled the rpmforge repository in order to install a few packages
not available in base/updates/centosplus. But, now when I do a "yum
check-update" yum wants to update a whole stack of packages because
it's found newer versions at

OT: CentOS hosting recommendations
Hi everyone,
I am looking for a dedicated server with CentOS. Any recommendations?
Ideally I would like to use one of the CentOS sponsors, but I think
that there are far too many to be able to compare them all by
refreshing (maybe there is a page with just a list of links to sponsors
but I couldn't find it).
Thanks
Gabriel

Logwatch for postfix
...e does not match what is
relevant for CentOS.
Anyone seen this problem on CentOS or is it some specific problem to my
configuration? I use fetchmail/postfix/dovecot/procmail locally on the
server to consolidate mail. Could be that it tries to filter on some
hostname/domain name?

Need help in securing maildir so that root user should not able to read anyother user's mail
Hi friends,
My company is currently using Exchange Servers for Mail Server
solutions but now they want to move to Linux Servers due to heavy cost
involved with the Exchange Users. We will be using the latest version
of Centos.
So the kind of solution we are looking is below:
a) Postfix or Sendmail as MTA.
b) Dovecot or Cyrus Imap with Quota as Pop & Imap server.
c) Security of Maildir means

Can't get XFS enabled on Centos 5.0
I anm trying to enable XFS with no success.
I followed the instructions provided in
http://wiki.centos.org/Repositories/CentOSPlus
I installed the new kernel.
Example: 2.6.18-8.1.14.el5.centos.plus
I also installed these packages as described in a post I found
yum install --enablerepo=centosplus xfsprogs xfsprogs-devel
lsmod shows nothing about XFS
I would image there are others out there

apt-cacher for CentOS
Hi All,
Is there something similar to apt-cacher available for CentOS? I would
like to ensure that an application is only downloaded once to the
network and not hundreds of times.
If there isn't an equivalent, would someone please point me in the
direction of how I might accomplish this with CentOS?

CentOS 4.4 on Dell PE 6400 - not rebooting ...
Hi All,
This is my first post ... I *HAD* been trying to get RHEL AS 4 onto
this Dell PE 6400/700, but it just wouldn't go without some weird
tweaking.
I am VERY happy to say that CentOS 4.4 installed without a hitch!
NICELY done folks!
The only real issue for me is that the machine fails to reboot or
shutdown correctly.
It requires physical interaction with the power switch,

core 2 duo motherboards and centos 4
from my googling around, it doesn't look there is a single motherboard
that supports core 2 duo and works without patches or tweaks. is that
true? the main thing we want is:
core 2 duo support
4g of 800mhz (or better) ram
sata
gig ether with pxe boot
we can live without pata or usb for a while.
we've tried intel 965 and asus p5b based boards with various levels of
ease of install,

More than 2TB RAID...
Hi,
I just received a new server (HP DL180G5) with 12x 1TB HDs and I bumped into fdisks 2TB limits...
Since this is an entry level server, I can't use the classic HP bootable utilities to create smaller volumes et can only create a big RAID6.
I found out that: using parted, labelling it gpt and creating the partitions would do the trick.
But, what about grub? I read that it does not support

Problems after performing yum update
I performed the update yesterday that included installing kernel
2.6.9-42.0.2.EL and replacing ethereal with wireshark.
First, the trivial...
Wireshark would not run from the KDE menu without editing the menu to
change the command from "wireshark" to "kdesu wireshark" because dumpcap
is at usr/sbin/dumpcap instead of /usr/bin/dumpcap . Making the change
causes wireshark to
