Running as non-root
...ooked at a thread on reviewboard regarding this
(https://reviewboard.asterisk.org/r/654/). It was Paul Belangers work trying
to make the installation process take care of this. But the conclusion seem
to be that the parts concerning this was postponed. So, did it make it in
some other way?

Converting asterisk h264 recordings
...f recording, and replaying, the voicemail works, and we
receive both an h264 and an wav-file. What I now wonder is how to convert
these into one file playable by a (standard) media player. I have not found
any real good leads by google:ing, but of course I may have missed it
Any
pointers?

Performance after failover
...after going to the other server, throughput went from ~100MB/s to
~25MB/s.
Kicking off a new read after the previous one had succeeded went straight
to the second server,
with throughput still at ~25MB/s.
Is this the expected behavior for clients that have failed over from one
server to another ?

Debian Squeeze packages available for Gluster 3.4.0-alpha2
I've made packages for Debian Squeeze for Gluster 3.4.0-alpha2,
they are available on
http://torbjorn-dev.trollweb.net/gluster-3.4.0alpha2-debs/.
They built and installed successfully, and have been running nicely
for a couple of hours,
but your mileage may vary.
The Debian packaging is on

Realtime problem host='dynamic' in 1.2.26.1
...e problem is discussed for the 1.4 branch, and the result is
that the problem should be fixed. But this is still a problem in 1.2 branch.
Will this be corrected in a new release, or is this not considered a
security fix and hence ignored? Actually isn't this a fix for a security
fix...

AGI script that uses google's text to speech engine
Hello,
I have written an AGI script for asterisk that uses google translate for
text to speech synthesis.
It supports a variety of different languages, local caching for the voice
data and wideband audio.
The voice in most languages is female and the quality of the synthesized
speech is very high.
More info about the script can be found here:

BYE from Cisco gateway
I'm using a cisco 1760 with a VIC2-4FXO card for my calls to PSTN.
If a user on a softphone hangs up first the PSTN port on the cisco is
released and new calls can be made on the same voice port. But when the
user on the PSTN side hangs up first the voice port on the cisco stays
open until the user on the softphone hangs up.
Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

[1.3.20]-Capture The Mouse Works Great. Suggestions...
Hi,
I've been crying for a long time about mouse issues
while running a full screen game in an emulated desktop window,
but with newest Wine these issues are gone.
Would it be possible to have some hot key
that the user can press to uncapture the mouse?
For example, VirtualBox toggles mouse capture
by pressing the right [Ctrl] key on

Dsync help, new attempt
I observe that dsync fills Maildir correctly incl. cur, if I delete
Maildir just before dsync runs.
Can the failed mbox to Maildir conversion be caused by dovecot creating
Maildir automatically if a client connects to dovecot?
Should dovecot be shutdown when running dsync?
All the best,
Torbj?rn

Dynamically setting from domain when calling friends
...he friend, but
I would like it to be dynamic, ie not having to update the friend definition
every time a different domain is used.
I understand that I would need to use outbound proxy in the client to
prevent it from dialing the domain directly.
Is this possible? Any alternatives?

How to evaluate the glusterfs performance with small file workload?
Hi guys
I have met some troubles when I want to evaluate the glusterfs performance with small file workload.
1: What kind of benchmark should I use to test the small file operation ?
As we all know, we can use iozone tools to test the large file operation, while for the sake of memory cache,
if we testing small file operation with iozone, the result will not correct.

JITTERBUFFER function
...page, and found the examples you
mention. But they are only examples of how to start the buffer on the
calling channel. Maybe adding what you just told me here to that page would
make it easier for others to grasp as well?
Anyway, thank you very much. Very appreciated!
Keep up the good work.

Page hangs up after 5 seconds
...ient hangs up after a longer
interval.
As it is hanging up after 5 seconds it is not such a long step to start
thinking about 'qxdw(5)'... I'm not totally sure how to interpret what
the w option does. What is a marked user? And what happens when the
timeout occurs?
Any ideas?

JITTERBUFFER function
...d side. How should I invoke this to
make the buffer belong to channel B? Maybe using b option to Dial? So that
when a JB-enabled device (B) calls out one just calls JITTERBUFFER from the
normal dialplan flow, and if there is a call to the device (B) one need to
use b option? Sound correct?

Suspicious shadow listen port
...ve a old ListenAddress for a removed interface...
Did that and HUP-ed sshd
# lsof
...
sshd 11152 root 6u IPv4 0x7004ded8 0t0 TCP xxx.yyy.zzz.hhh:22 (LISTEN)
...
That is, a Listen config line for a non-existing address gives a
shadow port on ((-1 & 0x7fff) - 22).
Rather spooky...

Have profile dir permanently mounted
...copied forth and
back.
If I understand it correctly, I need to:
*) Disable roaming profiles (to stop clients from copying profile dir
forth and back)
* )Somehow assign the profile dir to be \\%LOGONSERVER%\Profiles\%USERNAME%
Would it be possible to accomplish this using a logon script?
