Is H323 dying?
Hello,
I just downloaded and installed the latest version of asterisk under Fedora. (had it under FreeBSD but was having TOOO many problems)
After my installation i noticed that the channel H323 was not included ( I remember that i did not have to install it under freeBSD) but I have seen that SIP and IAX are supported though. So i am wondering:
Does asterisk consider H323 so achaic that it does not bother including it an...

xfs on 5.2 (live cd + dvd)
...andard dvd or do I have to build a
custom kernel for that?
Under centos-4.5 I chose xfs for performance reasons. With 5.2, is it
still the fs of choice when it comes to performance or do you have
better recommendations? (It will be a combined web and mail server with
moderate traffic, i.e. not toooo much but not tooo little).
Thanks in advance
Regards
Michael

I just want samba to do authentication with the w2k-server's help and without unix-useraccounts.

Currently we are experiencing the following problems:

Codec Selection in asterisk
...r

voip carrier's extension then it uses gsm ( first preference ) to send calls
but half of my softphones use ilbc so asterisk does codec transcoding in
between using lot of cpu .. how ever my carrier does support ilbc tooo but
when i put allow=ilbc&gsm then it uses ilbc again and does codec transcoding
from gsm to ilbc for rest of softphones . How can i make asterisk to be
smart in choosing codec .. and use ilbc to voip carrier if softphone is
using ilbc or use gsm when softphone is using gsm ( but still should d...

IAX2 tolerance on packet losses
...ls are working muuch better.
I've checked it on many ways. Hping tells me, that the average UDP
packet loss rate is about 8-15%. Is that too much for IAX
retransmissions ability? I've setup jitter with default settings
from iax.conf, but the quality remains almost the same - it's still
tooo jiiiiitttteery every few seconds.
I ran out of ways to test it. The conclusion remains the same - delays
and delay changes should be good enough, but the packet losses remain
too. I see some VNAK requests in
my log files, but no more than 3-4 during ~40 seconds connection.
So should I fight the p...

[LLVMdev] Proposal for improving the llvm nightly tester
My main complaints about the nightly tester are:
Loading the web pages is waaay tooo sllooooow
The information provided is not terribly useful for tracking down
bugs. What bug fixers need is environment+command line options
adequate to reproduce the problem. Access to the run logs would be a
good start.

More * weirdness
Well I am about to reserve a small padded room so I can bounce off the
walls without inflicting tooo much damage... Nothing is making sense at
this point. I tried several releases last night before settling on the
latest CVS (seemed to work the best). Asterisk was running GREAT for the
first few hours. Now since around 10AM EST SIP can't register and incoming
calls are rejected with "all...

Not so complex CompleteConfiguration example of a Complete Configuration?
...amples of a total
configuration tree (ie /etc/puppet/*) that I can learn from and try as
an initial deployment that I can then tweak and add too. That would
allow me to get started and learn by doing.
So my request, is, does anyone have an example complete configuration
that isn''t tooo complex, or that works pretty much out of the box on
Fedora and does something useful like deploys a Fedora system with
apache and maybe mysql?
That would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

[LLVMdev] Proposal for improving the llvm nightly tester
hi all,
After having some discussions in the IRC, I am trying here to come up with a
proposal for GSoC 2008 for improving the llvm nightly tester[1].Following
are the ideas and suggestions that came up in the discussion, if you have
any comment or any other suggestion please add them to the list. I have
some doubts in some places.
1. Improvements to the perl script which manage actual testing

new option suggestion '--backup-only'
Hi,
How about adding now option '--backup-only' that means making backups
only and don't change any destination files?
(I posted similar patch a month ago, but the patch was made for
nightly snapshot of 20020808, which was tooo old! Laugh at me...)
I want to use rsync with LVM snapshot to make incremental backups like
below:
1) Make LVM snapshot of file system and mount it.
2) Compare it to yesterday's snapshot, and backup files which are
updated or deleted.
ex) rsync -a --delete --backup --backup-dir=...

linux rescue on usb thumbdrive
...ere, wait a couple second do it again and NOW the fdisk -l
/dev/sda shows the device...
Its just like when you stick a USB disk in a working machine. takes a
few second to be mount-able.
So the big question is how do I get the USB disk to be recognized a FEW
second later?
The boot is happening tooo fast and I think and my USB disk is not yet
ready. That is why it cant find
my ext3 file system on the disk.
I am so close to getting this thing running.
Any suggestion/comments on what I am finding and how to get past it?
Thanks guys.
