Acts_as_authenticated
Hello I have been trying a number of security/login generators recently. My favourite so far is the Acts_as_authenticated. I like the fact that it is only billed as a starting point and doesn''t try to do everything. I would like to add security roles to it, so that some of my controller actions can only be used by an admin role. Has anybody implemented this using

failed to resolve SS_TCP_FAST_ACCEPT
Folks, I came across an IPv6 snv_31 network driver problem during testing. I can "ping" an IPv6 address, but when I try and log on to the IPv6 address I get an RPC failure. Not knowing much about dtrace, I thought I would give some of the networking dtrace scripts a try that I found here: http://www.opensolaris.org/os/community/dtrace/dtracetoolkit/ (tcptop or any other script in the

Hello, For several years I've been experiencing an intermittent Samba error when running a very intense, highly parallel build/compile jobset. A file is reported as "not found" even though it most certainly exists and re-running the compile jobset always succeeds. Samba version is 3.6.4 running on CentOS 5.8 with 64-bit kernel 2.6.18-308.4.1.el5. Windows side is 64-bit Window

Spring-rich killer: rails rich-client proposal
...rich because of all the XML >configuration and jar file hell that is part of the motivation behind using >rails in the first place for web applications. > >It seems that a project like this could accomplish the following: >* Provide an abstract means to bind to one or more native GUI tookits >* Provide a data binding mechanism to link controllers to GUI events and >link model objects to fields and GUI widgets. >* Provide a stub to one or more reporting engines that would allow one to >send models from the GUI context to report templates. >* Provide a client-specific plu...

Moving On
Cross-posted to the blog (at http://lylejohnson.name/blog/2010/08/04/moving-on/): When Jamis Buck wrote last year about ceasing development on Capistrano, his post really struck a chord with me. If this post reminds you of that one, it''s because I re-read it before sitting down to compose this one. It was the next best thing to having Jamis on hand to give me a pep talk before I had to
