SMBD Runs as root
...2.0.x of Samba, the SMBD process is always ran as "root" when users connect. I just compiled Samba 2.0.3 on a AIX 4.2 to fix it according to the enhancement document. SMBD is still running as "root" on 2.0.3. Does anybody have a work around for this. Tom Harris Denton CAD tomh@iglobal.net

-n vs batch_mode vs batch_flag
...en given. But nothing sets it. It looks like it's supposed to point to options.batch_mode, but it's never even initialized! Even if it did point to batch_mode, that's independent of -n, so when you say -n it still (tries to) ask for a password. % ssh -n localhost & [1] 5220 % tomh at localhost's password: [1] + Suspended (tty input) ssh -n localhost It seems to me that -n (without -f) should mean "stdin doesn't exist, so don't try any authmethods that ask for passwords from stdin", which would imply that it should set batch_mode too, and batc...

Centos 7 as gateway - UDP performance is busted/awful?
I just replaced a dead system disk on my KVM host that was running an ancient fedora 13. Since centos 7 was available, I decided to go with it to get some long term stability. The problem is that NFS mounts inside the virtual machines don't work for spit when talking to older NFS servers that must speak UDP. Is there something about UDP traffic that requires tweaks I don't know about for
