I installed tomcat 5.23 from the yum install of centos5.3 and have started tomcat on port 8080 . The http://hostname:8080 shows a blank page. In a standard Tomcat distribution, the default application is located in the ROOT directory /var/lib/tomcat5/webapps: From centos installation, this directory is empty. Is there any documentation telling you whether tomcat5 was compiled against the 1.4.2 tree or the 1.5? You could try downloading the srpm, patching it to use the 1.4.2 java and then re-create your own rpm. Hi I am seeing this issue on a RHEL4 box but i presume that the same will be for CentOS4.5 I am trying to get tomcat5 up and running using only upstream rpm's, as opposed to own rolled like i have done before, and hitting this issue.
