dns_tkey_negotiategss: TKEY is unacceptable
Hello! I've got this error dns_tkey_negotiategss: TKEY is unacceptable when running samba_dnsupdate --verbose With this error dynamic entries stopped working as Type A machines that entered in the field or entry to a new DC. Already tried the step described here https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Dns_tkey_negotiategss:_TKEY_is_unacceptable But when trying to delete the account used the

James, I configured the account lockout policies by RSAT, GPEDIT.MSC. By GPEDIT.MSC I set the value = 10 attempts. Through the samba-tool, I used this command: # samba-tool domain passwordsettings set --account-lockout-threshold=11 INFO: Current debug levels: ... pm_process() returned Yes Module 'tombstone_reanimate' is disabled. samba 4.4.5 DC with bind9: DNS update failing with NOTAUTH
Hello, I'm trying to join a samba 4 DC to an already existing samba 4 DC, both with BIND9_DLZ. Samba is at version 4.4.5, bind is version 9.10.4-P1, all brand new. The existing DC runs fine, but the added DC refuses to update its local bind database: every attempt to update the local DNS results in "update failed: NOTAUTH". AD replication works perfectly. Both systems are set

Dear James, Thanks for the input. Even increasing from 5 to 10, the amount of times to miss the password and lock the account (after changing, I wheeled a gpupdate / force), if you miss 3 times the account is locked. I changed smb.conf log level to 9. I tried to unlock the account using the samba-tool command line, but without success, because I can only unlock using the RSAT. I get these

ldbrename does not rename container users CN=Deleted Objects
...t my meaning.? In the meantime, yes, tombstone renanimation, where you supply almost all the attributes again, is meant to work, and is essentially is about removing the deleted marker and setting the DN, but in an odd way (not a rename!). See restore_deleted_object() in source4/dsdb/tests/python/tombstone_reanimation.py for some code. We have a 'samba-tool domain tombstones' command, but with only a 'expunge' subcommand. ?A 'reanimate' subcommand would be great - I'm sure I remember a script in the past, but I can't find it with a quick glance.? Samba does not work after upgrade to Ubuntu 20.04.1
Hello, today I upgraded one of my DCs to Ubuntu to 20.04.1. After that my DC did not work anymore, despite unmasking, reenabling. In /var/log/samba/log.samba I get the error messages below. Looks like libraries are missing. What shall I do? Thanks, Joachim root at cobra:/var/log/samba# cat log.samba [2020/10/11 15:12:51.009065, 0]

I am fairly sure Samba will ignore GP password policies, but if you set the policies with the samba tool command, then it should adhere to it, unless you are running across the bug I mentioned. You would see multiple badPwdCount increases for one bad password in the logs if you are experiencing that bug. -James Crouch On Aug 19, 2016 2:26 PM, "Ricardo Pardim Claus" <ricardo.claus at

WERR_BAD_NET_RESP on replication (--full-sync)
Hello, We have a Windows 2008 DC (inview-dc1 and a samba 4.4.16 (inview-dc2) server as a backup DC. The system for the most-part works OK, but occasionally the Samba DC goes wildly out of sync (with respect to group membership), normally after a change to a large group. I have noted previously before the out-of-sync event occurs, this command always fails thus : root at inview-dc2:~#

Dynamic DNS record scavenging support
Hello, according to this: https://gitlab.com/samba-team/samba/merge_requests/26 samba should support DNS record scavenging is this only true for the internal DNS or also BIND? Should this work? I enabled it (dns zone scavenging = yes) to try it out and got this (didn't enable it from the DNS Manager tool as I got the error first): Jul 24 16:39:20 dc1 samba[29071]: [2019/07/24
