Anonymous rsync server on LAN
...ar/local/samba/* /samba
I get prompted for the root login for 192.168.123.4, and the rsync
appears to work fine.
I really want to use the anonymous rsync method so as to avoid having
to type in the password manually, so that I can automate this with a
cron script.
Please help.

Non-determinism
...you think of any data transfer as sending a
digital signal through a noisy communication channel, there must be
some way to quantify the realiability of cp verses rsync. I'm not
sure that I have all the skills to do this analysis, but I'd be
interested in seeing it done.

Very slow initial opening MS-Word and MS-Excel files from Samba
