Issues/thoughts re CentOS-4
This is a list of issues for discussion for CentOS-4. Most of it is
based on my experience from building/maintaining CentOS-2 and observing
CentOS-3. I have not seen the CentOS-4 beta yet so I don't know if any
of this is already done. If these have been discussed on IRC then
perhaps someone could produce a shot summary of the outcomes....?

Subsetting does not remove unwanted data in table
Dear all,
This relatively routine analysis has left me frustrated and in a rut. I
have a dataset (data1), which I subset in order to remove rows where
HabitatDensity="Med". This dataset looks correct when I call it up,
however, when I create a table out of the new subset (data2), my table
continues to show the "Med" information as 0.
This is a problem because I need a

The answer is a multiplexed terminal node controller (TNC) This was the
very thought behind "trunked" communications around 800mhz. Gee ...
there are a bunch of cell phone frequencies just above that and 3x800 =
2.4g and ....
I'll leave the possibilities to the imaginative reader

point pattern interactions (Gcross and Kcross)
Dear R-users,
I am exploring disease spread in trees. I have locations for diseased trees
in 2004 and 2005 and want to know whether the patterns are independent. I
would like to use both the 'gcross' and 'kcross' functions (in spatstat).
I imported the data from two text files and created point objects using
as.ppp. I then created a marked planar point pattern using ppp. I am

Cluster prediction from factor/numeric datasets
Hi all,
I have a dataset with numeric and factor columns of data which I developed a
Gower Dissimilarity Matrix for (Daisy) and used Agglomerative Nesting
(Agnes) to develop 20 clusters.
I would like to use the 20 clusters to determine cluster membership for a
new dataset (using predict) but cannot find a way to do this (no way to
"predict" in the cluster package).
I know I can use

correlation coefficient from qq plot
Hi,
I am trying to figure out how to get the correlation coefficient for a
QQ plot (residual plot). So to be more precise, I am creating the plot
like this:
qq.plot(rstudent(regrname), main = rformula, col=1)
But want to also access (or compute) the correlation coefficient for
that plot.
Thanks,
Tom

prediction R-squared
Hi,
I need to compute a prediction R-squared for a linear regression. I
have figured out how to compute Allen's PRESS statistic (using the PRESS
function in the MPV library), but also want to compute the R-squared
that goes along with this statistic. I have read that this is computed
like an adjusted R-squared, but using the same regressions that are used
to compute the PRESS statistic. I

Can't mount Samba share on Linux box, Windows clients
When I encountered weird messages when trying to mount Samba shares on a
Linux box the solution was to make sure I had the location of smbmount and
smbmnt in my path. On RedHat 6.2 the path is /usr/sbin. I have not seen
your exact error before though. Hope that helps.
