Domain member server: user access
...e I have to use "--gid-number=10513" when creating a user, and not "100" ? as in: # samba-tool user create User5 P#ssw5rd --nis-domain=ARBEITSGRUPPE --unix-home=/home/User5 --uid-number=10098 --login-shell=/bin/false --gid-number=10513 Or skip that option ? ...do as I do, create another group (I use one called Unix > Admins), add this group to the Domain Admins group, now use the new > group instead of Domain Admins. nut-scanner pthread issue

I used attached patch to get rid of it. buffer overflow in ip
This comse from iproute-ss050901, rebuilt on FC4 with -fortify-source option. design question for small environment
...pw on the client, no more pw-entry at start-time (at least not for connecting the shares). OK, if the upstream admin resets the users PW, he gets access to the samba-shares as well ... but this would be noticed ("hey, my pw doesn't work anymore"). We will test that in more detail tmrw and check if it is enough. A first test worked fine (entered servername, user/pw ... batch without user/pw connects fine) - additionally I will have to look into the transport crypto: traffic goes through "hostile" networks ;-)
