Samba4 classic upgrade problem
Hello. I'm trying to perform a classic upgrade from Samba 3.6.6 with LDAP backend on Debian to 4.1.6 on Ubuntu on a new machine. The samba-tools creates the following *smb.con*f: *# cat /etc/samba/smb.conf** *[global] workgroup = SOMEDOM realm = somedom.local netbios name = SOMEDOM server role = member server passdb backend = samba_dsdb server

Using pki/ssl/tls connection.
I am thinking of using tls connection between my client and server instead of current ssh. I found https://libvirt.org/kbase/tlscerts.html and I want to know if it is possible to customise some setting (e.g. use my own cert names, or locations) but I was not able to. Moreover https://github.com/libvirt/libvirt/blob/44520f6e01580d6bada88b47e5b77e6bee023ac6/src/rpc/virnettlscontext.c suggests that these values are hardcoded. So my...

Samba4 joining a domain as DC
I followed https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba4/HOWTO/Join_a_domain_as_a_DC but when I get to samba-tool drs kcc -Uadministrator windowsdc.samba.example.com then the result is: ERROR(runtime): DsExecuteKCC failed - (8409, ?WERR_DS_DATABASE_ERROR?) and in samba.log: [2011/11/14 16:03:30, 0] ../source4/smbd/server.c:365(binary_smbd_main) samba version 4.0.0alpha17 started. Upgrade From 4.0.16 To 4.0.17+ Breaks
G'day Guys, I've hit a snag. After using S4 from Alpha, beta, rc, 4.0.1..16 with success, I wanted to upgrade to the 4.1 series. However, after compiling, installing, and provisioning, with no errors, samba4 won't start correctly. I did a few tests by installing from scratch, on the same server each of the following versions (4.0.17, 4.0.18, 4.0.19, and 4.1.9), and got the same

security=ads
Dear samba-mailinglist, We're using samba 4.0.5 as an active directory domain controller. We used to set up some file shares on basis security=user in the old samba version. I was able to set up the shares as they used to be . My Question: How can I set up "wich user kan read/write which share?" Do I have to do this in den Active Directory or in smb.conf? This maybe a trivial

Hi there I have migrated from an older version of Samba DC to Samba 4.9.4 AD. Running Centos 7. One server with everything on...  (AD and file server) Bind 9.9.4 Built from source. Followed directions in the wiki. All seems to go fine, but when I startup samba-ad-dc it shows a few errors.    ([kdc failed to setup interfaces]) The initial tests (in the directions in wiki) go fine until I get to

NO DNS zone information found in source domain, not replicating DNS
I am trying to join a Fedora Linux box running Samba 4.1.5 to a Windows Server 2000 domain controller as an additional domain controller. I should mention that our realm is the same as our domain name, adi.com. This is a 15 year old mistake. And the Windows DC does not have all of our machines listed. To work around that I have delegated _msdcs, _sites, _tcp and _udp to the Windows DC with name

Change Netbios name during classicupgrade?
Well, let's try to be more precise about my issue and give some updates: I try to make a classicupgrade and meanwhile, change the Domain name during the process, which includes realm and NetBIOS domain name. I precisely meet difficulties with changing the NetBIOS domain name. What i've tried so far: 1) Change the NetBIOS domain name "workgroup" attribute on the old Samba 3

First of all, thanks to you all for bearing with me. To answer the questions: - Subnets: yes, different subnets, routing is fine, can connect to Windows DC via telnet (DNS), OpenSSL on 389 and 636 - Naming: I could not find any object in the existing AD with the same name of the Samba DC that I want to add - Join existing: I try to join an existing Windows AD, not Samba AD I wiped the
