Unsecured zone transfers and open resolvers
Hello,
My question is not related to NSD in particular, but I have seen here on
the list a lot of people that work for TLDs and other Registrars and
Registry operators I thought it would be a good place to ask this
question. It is about DNS though, not completely off topic :).
I have encountered in my DNS studies a few name servers that let you
transfer zones they are authoritative for. The name servers I am talking...

The odd thing is that half of these are from domains we don''t accept email
from and the rest are from TLDs of countries we block mail from. Even more
curious is that we are on a dialup so our IP moves around.

Centos 5.2, Firefox 3, and IPv6
I am doing some testing and it almost seems as if Firefox 3.0.1 that
comes with Centos 5.2 is NOT working with IPv6.
Anyone know for sure?
I am getting weird hang behaviours and other just not working things.

I should have listened to you guys much sooner. I suspect that the
.local did indeed have something to do with it since mDNS was running
and may have screwed with dns resolution for *.local. tlds?
additionally, I adjusted the /etc/krb5.conf file according to Peters
suggestion.
rowland says I only need the top four lines? samba generated a krb5.conf
file for me with only those 4 lines.
the longer one is working now, is there a reason for why the shorter one
would be better?

Samba AD firewalld services
mDNS is not DNS
mDNS (zeroconf/avahi) ( used for .local and .lan reserved tlds ) is an apple thingy..
mDNS udp 5353
DNS tcp/udp 53.
Yes, dns tcp + udp.
If and dns udp package is to large it switches to tcp.
got that from wiets ( the postfix developer )
So i must believe him.. wiets is great.. ( and dutch ) :-))

Multiple domains for one app
...ternatives) the HTTP host
header to use as a key for all transactions
- issues with multiple domains and sending emails (envelope-from addresses)
- an error with the application will effect all clients
- (more i can''t think of)
there are examples for doing this for sub domains but not for tlds. i
think the first ''con'' above is going to be the main performance killer
but i would like to know if others think this is a silly idea or if it
is feasible.
any ideas and suggestions would be great.

[off-topic] Validating e-mail address with php
After running into several web application that rejected any e-mail
address on the new gTLDs because the apps were badly written to validate
with a hard-coded list of valid TLDs, I wrote a e-mail validation
function that I *think* does things properly.
Free for anyone to use who wants to.

Email Address verifier--eyes needed...
Folks:
I''ve posted a really basic e-mail address verifier to
http://wiki.rubygarden.org/Ruby/page/show/VerifyEmailAddress
I''d appreciate folks who understand DNS and SMTP having a look at it
to see if it looks reasonable. You could comment here or, possibly
more usefully, comment on the wiki page itself.
Thanks

Delivering locally through the Submission Server

OK, so I gather that the Submission Server cannot do that (yet).
My suggestion for a future version would then be: How about running dovecot-lda, if the user happens to be local, or a local alias? Or at least
provide some sort of pattern matching: anything matching *@example.com , pass the message to

SV: SV: Looking for a guide to collect all e-mail from the ISP mail server
Actually the reverse pointer doesn't have to match. In fact this is impossible if you are setting up virtual accounts on one server for different domains. You just need to have a reverse pointer.
Most email servers look to seen if the reverse pointer has a "dyn" in it and blocks those.

Spamassassin + Postfix : delete spam mail on the server ?
Hi,
My mail server is running on CentOS 7 with Postfix, Dovecot and
Spamassassin. I get quite a lot of spam on a few accounts, and
Spamassassin does its job fine. Spam mail is identified correctly, and
it looks like there are no false positives, e. g. valid mail is never
identified as spam.
When a message is flagged as spam, the subject line is rewritten to
begin with [SPAM]. Then, a filter in

Hey Peter,
many thanks for your reply.

regarding .local domains
I know this is regarded by some as bad form, is actively being
discouraged by the samba wiki and can cause problems with
bonjour/zerobla configuration.
I can say for certain that no apple devices will ever come anywhere near
that network and the other drawbacks of .local like getting signed
certs... should never be an issue
