slow tint when tinting the whole screen
Hi,
I'm running ubuntu edgy with compiz, switched from gentoo to ubuntu
for faster updates (emerge is way slow with source builds..). So far, I
like it.
but that is not the issue I'm addressing now. I've noted that with
both these machines, when I'm doing something that tints the whole
screen to gray (like trying to logout, or using some software that
prompts for sudo rights), it's really slow. Jagged. It seems that it's
not vertically synced or something.
Other tints, like when some program has gone haywire and stopped
responding to the system, works well...

Ploting graphics using X tints from a color
Hi,
I'm trying to draw a 2D plot using multiple tints of red. The
(simplified) setup is the following: || year | x | y ||
My idea is that each year is plotted with a different tint of red.
Older year (lightest) -> Later year (darkest). I've managed to plot
this with different scales of grays simply by doing:
palette(gray(length(years):0/lengt...

xyplot with different symbols and colors?
Dear List,
I try to make a xyplot with different colors and symbols, I came this far:
library(DAAG)
xyplot(csoa~it|sex*agegp,data=tinting,groups=target,pch=list(1,2),auto.key=list(space
= "right"))
this produces a plot with different colors and symbols but unfortunately
the legend does only follow the color scheme and not the different symbols.
Any suggestions what to change?

RailsCron usage question
I''m yet another person looking to do some background Rails processing.
>From post & the wiki, it looks like I should be using RailsCron. So I''m
about to start playing.
In parallel, I''d like to get some opinions re: database access. I have
a table that I''d like to re-fresh periodically in the background. Is it
safe, using RailsCron, to be accessing

Problem with VorbisEncoder
Hi All,

It would be really helpful for me if you comment on the following.
My VorbisEncoder uses libvorbis to encode into the vorbis data. I have followed the call sequence given in libvorbis\examples\encoder_example.c.
I am taking a 16bit pcm Stereo wav file and generating an oggvorbis file using libvorbis and libogg. There is lots of noise in the file except music is heard very feable

ov_clear(&vorbis) segfaults?
Hello all. I'm new to this list. I'm also new to coding with libvorbis
and things, so please bear with me. :)
I've been having trouble with libvorbisfile.
My use of it is fairly simple, but when I try to ov_clear the vorbis
file, it segfaults.
I can attach or otherwise make availible some demo source code, but for
now I'll just pull out relevant lines:

Little graph questions!
I'm working up a set of small working examples in R to show what various
distributions are and the beauty of the central limit theorem. Those
example programs are in this directory:
http://lark.cc.ukans.edu/~pauljohn/R/ExampleCode/
You can feel free to use those if you want, or you can send me other
small working example code for R. The key here is small, self contained
things that

Dynamic image resizing and caching
I''m working on an image system that does rescaling and effects on
demand, rather than on upload. The uploads are stored as master files,
and resized images are generated, cached and returned by a controller,
using a request similar to this:
/images/21/150x100/filename.jpg (where 21 is the image id)
I also have various filters implemented, adding the concept of filter
sets (which is

fMultivar functions not loading under R-2.7
I submitted this to rmetrics help list as well...
I've been using R-2.4 with Rmetrics successfuly for a year or two.
I recently moved to Ubuntu Linux 8.04, loaded R via apt-get install R-base
etc. etc...
then in the R interface i ran install.packages("fMultivar"), chose the CRAN
mirror and it loaded fMultivar and all the required dependecies.
However, when I try to run the same

Convert date to integer
Hello, I have a dataframe containing dates, times and other parameters. The
times have the format "h:m", e.g. 13:00 or 5:30, R classes them as factors.
I want to change the times to integers e.g. 13:00 -> 1300. I tried to use
"chron" to create a chronological object, but it didn't work for the times
(yust for the dates).

[GWD] I've found the leak! Needs the fix!
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12450
It seems that gwd leaks or something similar, it can't handle too much
<tint> xml operations
I hope these can be fixed as GNOME 2.20 is using Clearlooks theme and
this is making compiz unusable
Cheers

idea where to proceed from here. Help please? Command to reproduce should

[PATCH] qemu pcnet emulation fixes
The attached patch to the qemu emulation of the pcnet hardware fixes
several problems. It will now only read and write a transmit or receive
descriptor once. It will correctly handle transmitting frames with more
than two fragments. It will discard oversize frames instead of
corrupting memory. I have tested all the changes I have made and even
seen an improvement in receive performance from
